Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Alexis Carpenter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Seb Halstrom (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Alexis Carpenter!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Seb Halstrom!
The judges for this bout are , Frank Antenori and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Halstrom darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Halstrom seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Carpenter does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Halstrom might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Carpenter haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
Carpenter is looking to improve his position.
Halstrom is trying to control the action in half guard but Carpenter is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Halstrom is keen to just control but Carpenter is a slippery customer.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Halstrom is thwarting Carpenter's attempts to control the position.
Halstrom tries to pass to full mount but Carpenter defends it.

Carpenter is not content to let Halstrom control the position.
Halstrom tries to stand but his arm is trapped.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

Halstrom is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Carpenter is just riding it out for now. Halstrom eventually gives up the hold.
Carpenter really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Carpenter is working hard here to advance position.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Carpenter is trying is best to control the position here.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Halstrom moves into the clinch.

Halstrom jumps into guard, dragging Carpenter to the mat.

Halstrom has an active guard here but Carpenter has managed to pass into half guard.
Carpenter stalling.

Carpenter stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Halstrom to get to his feet.
Carpenter misses with a head kick.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Carpenter, right into the meat.

Carpenter jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Sloppy strikes from Halstrom. Those never looked like landing.

and Carpenter moves into the clinch.
Carpenter is trying to drag Halstrom to the mat but Halstrom just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Halstrom wants to break free but Carpenter has control.
Carpenter tries to score a body lock takedown but Halstrom shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Carpenter jumps guard but Halstrom stands there with Carpenter around his waist. Carpenter gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Alexis Carpenter. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Carpenter wants to take the fight to the mat but Halstrom manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Halstrom takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.

Halstrom can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Carpenter controls the pace.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.



Halstrom closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Halstrom lands in his opponent's guard.
Carpenter pulls Halstrom in close to prevent any damage.
Carpenter continues to stall.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Carpenter wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Halstrom wants to pass the guard but Carpenter is keeping the position.
Halstrom has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Halstrom is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Carpenter is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Carpenter has escaped and now he's on top!


Carpenter gets to his feet. Halstrom looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Seb Halstrom seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Halstrom shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Carpenter manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Halstrom pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Carpenter is keeping the position for now.

Carpenter manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Halstrom manages to get himself to full guard.

Carpenter stands up and waves to Halstrom to follow him.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Halstrom clinches up against the cage.
Halstrom with an attempt at a knee that misses.
Carpenter blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.

Halstrom works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.
Halstrom is breathing heavily.
Carpenter lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.


Carpenter decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Carpenter fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Halstrom on the side of the head.
Carpenter avoids the head kick by Halstrom.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Seb Halstrom showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


Carpenter checks the leg kick.
Halstrom takes a head kick and shrugs it off.

Halstrom bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Carpenter throws his opponent off and manages to get back to his feet! Nicely done!
Halstrom dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Halstrom rushes Carpenter and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Halstrom turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!

Carpenter sneaks out the side door and pushes Halstrom away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape.
Halstrom takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Halstrom takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Halstrom closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Halstrom lands in his opponent's guard.

Carpenter scrambles and gets back to his feet.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Carpenter moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.

Halstrom manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Carpenter on his heels. He'll look to pass Carpenter's guard now, I'm sure.

Carpenter pushes Halstrom off and scrambles back to his feet.
Halstrom doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Carpenter lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
Carpenter lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Carpenter lands a nice leg kick that just misses Halstrom's sensitive parts.

Halstrom closes the distance and clinches.

Carpenter drags the fight down to the ground.

Carpenter working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Halstrom doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but Carpenter is tightening it up a little... Halstrom has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Halstrom reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Halstrom taps out! Nice BJJ there by Carpenter!
