PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Brock Cannon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Muhammad Rizaldy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Muhammad Rizaldy struggled to make weight for this fight. He only made it down to 146.6lbs at the first attempt and had to take the additional two hours to make the official bout weight. Let's see how much it's taken out of him. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Muhammad Rizaldy!
The judges for this bout are Skip Squint, Winston Howard and Summer Carpenter.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A looping hook to the body misses from Cannon. Rizaldy does a little dance to reset his feet.
Rizaldy feints the counter takedown.

and Cannon counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Cannon.

Our spies down at at Beast Bar inform us that Rizaldy has really been working on his submissions in the buildup to this fight. Will it pay off?
Cannon throws a big right hand that misses.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Cannon stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Rizaldy swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The fighters are working up against the cage. Rizaldy manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage.

Rizaldy drops back, looking for a kneebar! Cannon looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Cannon looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Cannon!

Cannon looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.

Rizaldy is trying to escape and get back to his feet.
Rizaldy can't do much from the bottom here.
Rizaldy is working to avoid the ground and pound but Cannon connects with a decent elbow.
Cannon grinds an elbow into Rizaldy's temple.
Rizaldy tries to get back to half guard but can't.
You can see the frustration on Rizaldy's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Rizaldy is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.

Cannon is looking to take a break and control but Rizaldy is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Cannon is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Rizaldy defends it well.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Rizaldy is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Cannon scores with a couple of nice shots.

Rizaldy tries to kick Cannon off but Cannon keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Cannon half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.
Rizaldy dives in and grabs Cannon's left leg, looking for a takedown. Cannon pushes down on Rizaldy's head and hops out.
Cannon scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.


It looks like Muhammad Rizaldy has been cut.
Cannon lands a jab.

Rizaldy gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Cannon to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Cannon is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Rizaldy can do to turn this around?
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Rizaldy shoots in looking for a takedown but Cannon manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Rizaldy's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Cannon is in a bad position, trying to hold on for dear life but he is really struggling to maintain any sort of control.

Rizaldy wants to take a breather but Cannon is having none of it.

Rizaldy is trying to advance to mount but he's lost his balance and Cannon reverses the position - he's now on top in Rizaldy's guard.

Cannon seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Rizaldy working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Cannon doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Cannon manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Cannon controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Rizaldy fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Cannon avoids it really well and circles away.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Rizaldy shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Cannon but Cannon pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Cannon was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.

Cannon decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Cannon prevents Rizaldy from improving his position.
Rizaldy wants to get back to his feet.

Cannon lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
Rizaldy dives in and grabs Cannon's left leg, looking for a takedown. Cannon pushes down on Rizaldy's head and hops out.
Brock Cannon has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Muhammad Rizaldy.
Cannon fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.

Cannon lands with an uppercut that bounces Rizaldy off the cage and back into range.
Rizaldy is still on wobbly legs! Can Cannon finish him?
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Cannon tries to counter with a takedown but Rizaldy is quick to defend against it.
Rizaldy looks up at the clock. Bad move! Cannon lands a right hand from hell, dropping Rizaldy. Cannon pounces and finishes the fight with a flurry of punches and elbows.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:55 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Brock Cannon!
Brock Cannon seemed lost for words in his post fight interview but he remembered to thank his fans and directed everyone to his website.
