Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Benedict Oneal!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Joao Magalhaes !
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Sano, Shigeki Fujiwara and Yuuki Gou.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Horrible takedown attempt by Oneal or perhaps it was just good defense by Magalhaes , which made it look bad.
Magalhaes throws a fast counter high kick but Oneal manages to duck under it in time.
Magalhaes fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Oneal has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
Joao Magalhaes seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Magalhaes shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Oneal not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Magalhaes controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Magalhaes changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Oneal looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Oneal closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Oneal lands in his opponent's guard.

Magalhaes closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Oneal's guard.
Oneal is looking to stand up but Magalhaes isn't so interested in that idea.
Oneal is trying to control the position but Magalhaes postures up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Benedict Oneal will probably get the nod.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!


A nice leg kick lands there from Magalhaes .
Oneal will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Magalhaes wants to counter with a clinch but Oneal pushes him away.

Magalhaes shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Oneal napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Magalhaes stands up and beckons Oneal to his feet.

Magalhaes fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Oneal to the ground. Magalhaes is now in Oneal's guard.

Oneal manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Oneal stalling here - the referee won't stand for too much of that.
Magalhaes takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Magalhaes jumps into guard, dragging Oneal to the mat.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Oneal swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Oneal dives in for a single leg takedown but Magalhaes sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Oneal really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Magalhaes shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.

Oneal is trying to get back to full guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Magalhaes is fighting to break Oneal's control of his arms but Oneal is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
Oneal is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Oneal.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Benedict Oneal. That's going to take a lot out of him.

I would just about give that final round to Joao Magalhaes .
