Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 5 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Sonny Corinthos!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Brett Harrison Wells!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Santiago Holmes and Peter Branson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wells misses with a kick to the body.
Nice takedown defense from Wells. No joy for Corinthos on that attempt.
Wells throws a hook to the side of Corinthos's head but Corinthos sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Corinthos fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Wells throws an off balance right hand
and Corinthos counters with a body kick that brings a smile to the face of both fighters.
Wells throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

and Wells cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Wells has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Corinthos shoots in looking for a takedown but Wells manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Corinthos's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Corinthos's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Wells swings for the body but Corinthos moves out of range.
Brett Harrison Wells seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Corinthos takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Corinthos tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Wells manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Corinthos checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time.
Wells tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Corinthos is able to avoid easily.

Wells throws a low kick but it's checked well by Corinthos.

A quick step to the side and Corinthos tries to counter with a shot to the body but it doesn't connect.
Corinthos is looking to clinch.
Wells throws a wild body kick that Corinthos sees coming a mile off.
It looked like Corinthos was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.
Wells is looking to score with low kicks.
Corinthos appears to be looking for a big counter.
Wells misses with an uppercut. Corinthos saw that one coming.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Corinthos tries to bum rush Wells with a series of wild strikes but Wells uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Sonny Corinthos is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Wells thuds a left hand into Corinthos's body.
Corinthos on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.

Corinthos went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.

It looks like Sonny Corinthos has been cut.

We are yet to see a takedown attempt from Wells in the fight. On paper you would think he is the more dominant ground fighter so let's see if these unusual tactics pay off.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Corinthos just trying to survive but Wells is wriggling into a better position, looking to finish.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Wells biding his time, looking for the opening.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Corinthos looks to control his opponent's hands but he's not mananging it at the moment.

Wells stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Wells wants it to stay on the feet.

Horrible takedown attempt by Corinthos or perhaps it was just good defense by Wells, which made it look bad.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Corinthos changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Wells tries to avoid it but Corinthos manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Wells to the ground. Wells escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Corinthos misses with a takedown attempt - Wells sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Wells has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
