The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Ruiz closes the distance and pushes Mamado back into the cage.

Ruiz really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Mamado wants to take a breather but Ruiz is having none of it.

Ruiz gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Mamado to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Ruiz pushes Mamado off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.

Ruiz is fighting off a takedown attempt but Mamado is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Ruiz to the mat. Ruiz regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.

Ruiz is looking to control Mamado's arms but Mamado gets an underhook and turns him. Now Ruiz has his back to the cage.
Ruiz seems a little flustered. He's come in with the intention of controlling the clinch but Mamado is preventing him from doing so, at least for the moment.

Mamado closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
