Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Tane Huia (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jake Gurel (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Tane Huia has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gurel tries to clinch there but Huia circles away.

Huia rushes Gurel and presses him up against the cage.

Gurel is working for takedown but Huia is calmly controlling the position for now.

We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Gurel has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.

Gurel can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Huia is looking to escape.

Gurel is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Huia is surviving well by controlling Gurel's body position as best he can.

Huia is trying to remain composed but Gurel is hammering down strikes to the side of his head.

Huia knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Gurel on the ground.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
You can see the frustration on Huia's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.
Huia is trying to get back to his feet but he's not managed it yet.

Gurel is working for a rear naked choke. Huia is not defending it well and Gurel has tightened it up quickly! This could be all over! Huia refuses to tap and goes to sleep, forcing the referee to intervene. A little trickle of blood came out of Huia's nose as his head slumped to the floor. That is naaaasty!
