Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Konstantin Khavin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Demian Maia (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Maia comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Steel Lord On Wheels by Hibria kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Demian Maia told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A looping hook to the body misses from Khavin. Maia does a little dance to reset his feet.
Khavin looks to score with a jab to the body but Maia is just out of range.
Maia tries a head kick but it misses.
Khavin moves out of range of the body kick.
An attempted straight right counter from Khavin misses the target.
Khavin definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Khavin blocks the body kick.
Maia looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
Maia uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Khavin.
Khavin misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Khavin punishes Maia's body with a nice straight punch.
Khavin throws a hook but Maia blocks it.
Maia drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Khavin defends it well.
Konstantin Khavin seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Maia.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Khavin lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Maia circles away quickly and effectively.

Khavin takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?
Maia throws a wild body kick that Khavin sees coming a mile off.
A little feinted left hand from Khavin on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.

Khavin dives in and scores a takedown into Maia's guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Maia bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.

No joy there for Maia, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Maia uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Khavin.
Maia takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
Khavin is really turning it up, unleashing another crisp combination which drops Maia like a ton of bricks! The referee dives in to stop the fight, saving Maia from another fist facial!
