PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Distor Centura (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Musta Laine (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Centura might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to 12 Stones - Bulletproof. Laine has chosen Somnium - After All as his entrance music. Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Musta Laine!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Frank Antenori and Don Winkell.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Laine lands a hook to the body. It's hard to tell if that hurt Centura or not.
Laine stalling in the clinch.
Centura swings wildly with an uppercut but Laine uses good head movement to avoid it.
Laine pushes Centura back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.
Centura can't get the takedown.

Centura gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.
Centura throws a big right hand that misses.
Laine preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Laine wants to sweep but no luck.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Laine is trying to control the position from the bottom.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Centura trying to control the position from guard on top but Laine is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Laine looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.

Centura avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Laine is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Laine working some short elbows here. He postures up to throw some more ground and pound but Centura slips a leg through to get back to half guard. Nice work.
Laine looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Centura with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Centura is looking for a sweep. Laine is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Well, if Laine is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Centura tries to get to full guard but Laine has control of the leg.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Laine lands a nice looking body shot.
Centura misses with a takedown attempt
and Laine counters with a stiff right hand.
Laine moves into range and connects with a jab.
Centura gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Laine.
Musta Laine seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Laine changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.

Centura shoots in and gets a takedown into Laine's guard.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Centura trying to control the position from guard on top but Laine is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Musta Laine dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Centura takes a jab right on the kisser.
Laine fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Centura shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Laine counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Centura thinking.

Centura has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Laine.
A head kick misses from Laine.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Centura shoots in for a double leg but Laine sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
A little jabbing left from Laine on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Distor Centura. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Laine lands with a right hand.

Centura on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Laine uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Centura.
Musta Laine is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Laine bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Centura's head.

Centura is rocked!
Laine digs a good body shot into Centura's ribs.
Oh Centura is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
A punch combination from Laine misses.
Centura seems to have got his legs back now.
Laine lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Laine fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Centura on the side of the head.
Centura shoots in but no luck this time.
Laine fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.

Laine clinches up with Centura and pushes him back against the cage.
Laine lands a left hand.
Laine can't find room to land a body shot as Centura controls the action.
I was talking to Centura's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.
Centura's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Laine misses with a short punch on the inside.

Laine pushes Centura back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.
Laine will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Centura up against the cage.

Centura has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Laine after a bit of a struggle.
Laine tries to work over Centura's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
Centura is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Laine gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Centura wants to take the fight to the mat but Laine manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.
Laine pushes Centura back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.
The referee is keeping an eye on Laine - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.

Laine swings wildly with an uppercut but Centura uses good head movement to avoid it.

Laine has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight.

Laine lands a right hand that snaps the head of Centura backwards.
Laine is pressed up against the cage. Centura has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Laine down to the mat. Laine avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Laine lands a head kick. Centura smiles back at him and beckons him forward.
Laine cracks Centura with a nasty uppercut that draws ooohs from the crowd and sends Centura tumbling backwards onto the mat. He tries to recover but Laine pounces and lands a hail of unanswered strikes that forces the referee to step in to end the fight! Centura is not happy but he gave the referee no choice!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:23 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Musta Laine!
A very excited looking Musta Laine rambled incoherently for about 5 minutes post fight about how awesome he is. It was kinda funny for a while but then everyone got annoyed.
