PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Sam Crow (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Akiro Sata (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Crow comes to the cage accompanied by Eminem- Not Afraid. Sata has chosen Onward to Victory! as his entrance music. I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Akiro Sata was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Sam Crow!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 17 - 19 - 0, fighting out of New York, Akiro Sata!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sata lands the left hand.
Sata throws a series of punches but Crow avoids them all with ease.
Sata throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Crow counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Crow definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Sata connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Crow momentarily.
Sata slips under a jab from Crow.
Crow throws a nice looking combination but Sata bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Sata bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Crow's head.
Crow throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Sata changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Sata takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Sata fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

Sata closes the distance and clinches.
Sata tries to pull guard but Crow holds him up against the cage and eventually Sata drops back down to his feet.
Sata tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.

Crow trying to control the position but instead, Sata has worked for underhooks and has pushed Crow into the cage.
Crow looking to slow down the pace here.
Sata content to slow the pace in the clinch.
Sata throws a head punch that misses.

Sata gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.

Crow pushes Sata off and gets back to his feet.
Crow has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Crow there as he acknowledges the shot.

Crow will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Crow misses the shot to the body.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Sata lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.
Sata is pushing Crow up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.

Sata breaks the clinch.
Sata lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Crow scores with a sloppy right hand. Sata should have avoided that one.
Crow tries to bum rush Sata with a series of wild strikes but Sata uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Sata moves into the clinch.
Crow blocks a body shot from Sata.

Crow escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Sata throws a combination. Crow tries to block but a couple of punches get through.
Sata shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Crow defends it nicely.
Crow appears to be looking for a big counter.
Crow fails with an attempt to clinch.
Sata throws a hook but Crow blocks it.
Sata swings for the body but Crow moves out of range.

Sata drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Sata stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Crow swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Crow is looking to stand up but Sata isn't so interested in that idea.
Sata with a nice head shot there.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Sata is looking to work some ground and pound but Crow has wrist control.
Sata not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Sata trying to control the position from guard on top but Crow is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Sata with a nice head shot there.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Akiro Sata dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Crow takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.

Sam Crow is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Sata throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Crow cracks Sata with a good jab.

Sata throws a series of strikes that have Crow backpedaling.

Sata cracks Crow with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.
Akiro Sata seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Sata lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Crow at a distance.
Sata looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Crow throws a combination that misses
and Sata counters with a lovely shot to the body.

Sata moves into the clinch successfully.
Sata softening up his opponent with strikes, against the cage.

Sata breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Sata misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Crow.
Sata rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Crow moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Crow went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.
Akiro Sata seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
A combination from Crow does no damage.
Sata digs a good body shot into Crow's ribs.
Sata fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Crow on the side of the head.

Sata slips a jab and a cross from Crow.
Crow takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Sata is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Crow.
Crow cracks a nice hook into Sata's ribs.
Sata has been working his punching technique in the buildup to the fight and it appears to be paying off.
Crow keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Sata.
Sata lands a nice looking body shot.
Crow uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Sata.
Sata throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Crow stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Sata looks to land a right hand but Crow moved out of range.
Crow scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Sata doesn't seem bothered though.
Sata moves in looking to clinch but Crow pushes him off.
Crow misses with a double jab.
Sata smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
Sata has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Sata tests Crow's chin there with a solid looking shot.

and Crow counters with a series of strikes that sends Sata to the canvas! Crow follows down into guard, looking to finish the fight!

Sata has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Crow can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Sata ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Sata misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Crow.
Sata lands a glancing blow to the side of Crow's head.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Sata shoots in and drives through. Crow sprawls well.
Crow throws a big counter combination but Sata scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage.
Sam Crow has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Akiro Sata.

Crow misses with a wild combination.

Akiro Sata showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!


Crow lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Sata circles away quickly and effectively.
Sata fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Crow swats away the attempt to clinch by Sata.

Crow shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Sata manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Sata pulls Crow in close to prevent any damage.

Crow stands up and waves to Sata to follow him.

Sata lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Crow backs up against the cage.
Sata shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Crow as he jumps to the side.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Sata tries to score with a low kick but Crow moves his leg out of the way.

Crow blocks Sata's feeble attempts to strike from the bottom.

Crow is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.

Sata wants to improve his position but Crow is controlling well.
Sata makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Sata.
Crow wants to get up but he can't break Sata's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Sata clinches up with Crow and pushes him back against the cage.
Akiro Sata is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Sata misses with a hook from the clinch.
Crow is looking to break free of the clinch but Sata has double underhooks.

I would just about give that final round to Akiro Sata.
I've got Sata winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
