Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Elvis Blanchard (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Murphy Scott (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Murphy Scott has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Elvis Blanchard!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Murphy Scott!
The judges for this bout are Alyssa Summers, Anthony Taglia and Chad Campbell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Scott clinches with his opponent.
Scott will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Blanchard up against the cage.

Scott has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Blanchard clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!

Scott is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Blanchard is defending well though. Scott let's go of the attempt for now.

Scott working for a RNC but it's not happening just yet.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Scott just keeping the dominant position. He can't wait too long though, otherwise the referee will stand them back up.
Scott is hanging on to Blanchard's back as he tries to escape.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Scott is persistently looking for the submission but Blanchard is defending it well.
Scott is punishing Blanchard with strikes - can he finish him?!

Blanchard is having to fend off submission attempts from Scott, who is looking to sink in the choke. Scott doesn't have the hooks in though and Blanchard manages to reverse position! He's now on top, in his opponent's guard.

Scott bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Blanchard's guard.

Scott tries to free his leg and advance position but Blanchard is retaining full guard.
Blanchard manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Scott manages to get himself to full guard.

Scott wants to hit a switch here but Blanchard passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Scott there!

Scott is looking to get to half guard.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Scott can do anything to dispel that myth.
Blanchard trying to control but Scott is having none of it.
Scott keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Scott is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Scott tries to hold on but Blanchard pushes him away.

Blanchard working for a guillotine from mount but Scott is in no mood to give up.

Scott suckers Blanchard into throwing a sloppy strike and uses the momentum to reverse the position beautifully! Scott is now in Blanchard's guard!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Blanchard is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Murphy Scott will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Scott misses with a takedown attempt - Blanchard sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Blanchard is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Blanchard tries to clinch up.
Blanchard takes one on the chin but keeps coming.


It looks like Elvis Blanchard has been cut.
Scott throws a sloppy head kick
and Blanchard counters with a left and a right that stings Scott.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Blanchard rushes Scott and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Scott stalling here - the referee won't stand for too much of that.

Scott dives in and scores a takedown into Blanchard's guard.
Blanchard might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Scott throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Blanchard works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Blanchard lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Scott looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
Scott wants to sweep here but Blanchard controlling him for the moment.

Scott is striking from the bottom but Blanchard uses the opportunity to pass into half guard.
Scott tries to get to full guard but Blanchard has control of the leg.
Blanchard is trying to control the action in half guard but Scott is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Scott gets full guard.

Scott is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Scott looking for a sweep. Not yet Scott, not yet.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Scott swings for the body but Blanchard moves out of range.
Scott misses with a head kick.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Scott closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Blanchard to the mat! Blanchard manages to get full guard.
Scott is breathing heavily.
Scott preventing the sweep.
Scott wants to stand and escape but instead Blanchard has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

Blanchard wants to control from the top but Scott keeps moving.
Blanchard is fighting to break Scott's control of his arms but Scott is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Scott is trying to control the position from the bottom.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Elvis Blanchard will probably get the nod.
The cut man is working on Elvis Blanchard's cut.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!


Blanchard shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Scott defends it nicely.

Scott feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Blanchard is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Scott presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat.

Blanchard is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Scott pulls him back up using the underhooks.

Scott turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Scott manages to end up in side control.

Blanchard dodges the ground and pound from Scott.
Scott staying calm.

Scott thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Scott wants to stand but Blanchard is controlling his arm.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Scott lands an elbow.
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.
Scott trying to control the action but Blanchard is working from the bottom.
Scott tries to stand but Blanchard is controlling his head.
The strikes coming from Scott are missing the target in this wave of attacks.
Scott moves into full mount!

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Scott tries to stand up but he's trapped just for the moment.

Scott goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Blanchard is on top in guard.
Scott is adopting a defensive guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Scott is looking to stand back up but Blanchard counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Scott.
Scott is looking to control Blanchard's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Scott avoid being mounted?
Blanchard wants to take a breather but Scott is having none of it.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Elvis Blanchard.
I think Blanchard has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
