PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Ken Masters (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Hugo Wolf (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Masters comes into the arena with Simply the Best blaring out of the sound system. The key to victory for Ken Masters has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 19 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Hugo Wolf!
The judges for this bout are James Atkins, Andrew Berry and James Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Masters throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena.
Good leg kick by Masters there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Masters looks to score with a jab to the body but Wolf is just out of range.
Masters cracks Wolf with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
Wolf avoids the body shot from Masters .
Wolf tries to move into range but Masters moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
Masters scores with a nice head shot.
Wolf will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Masters ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Wolf moves away.

Wolf moves into the clinch.
Wolf goes for a takedown in the clinch but Masters prevents it.
Wolf tries for a takedown. No joy.
Ken Masters has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Hugo Wolf.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Masters is leaning against Wolf and scores with a nice uppercut to the body.

Wolf gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Masters regains guard.
Masters utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Masters is adopting a defensive guard.

Masters has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
Wolf postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Masters throws a half hearted mid kick.
Ken Masters is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Wolf tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.
Masters throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Wolf changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.
Ken Masters seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Masters swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Masters chopping away at his opponent's legs.
Masters throws a body kick that digs right into the meat.

Wolf dives in and grabs Masters 's left leg, looking for a takedown. Masters pushes down on Wolf's head and hops out.
No luck for Wolf with that takedown attempt.
Crunch! Masters slams his shin into Wolf's torso.
Masters stuns Wolf with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Masters tries to bum rush Wolf with a series of wild strikes but Wolf uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Wolf takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
Wolf fails with the takedown
and Masters counters with a nice leg kick.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Wolf misses with a right hand

and Masters holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Masters scores with a shot to the side of Wolf's head.
Masters content to slow the pace in the clinch.
Masters goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Masters tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Wolf avoids it.
Masters lands a nice knee to the body.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Masters stays in close to his opponent and throws a right hand to the body.
Wolf looks winded!
Masters presses Wolf against the cage and delivers a mid-strength body shot.
Masters scores with a hook to the body.
Wolf is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Masters pulls him back up using the underhooks.

Masters breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Masters thuds his right hand into Wolf's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
Masters bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Wolf's head backwards.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ken Masters dominated that round.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!


BOOM! Masters lands a beautiful left hook that drops Wolf. Wolf tries to recover but Masters is having none of it, landing more punishing shots from mount. One final crushing shot and Wolf lies motionless on the canvas. The fight is over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:05 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Ken Masters !
Ken Masters decided to thank the fans in attendance for making a great atmosphere. It seemed to go down pretty well.
