The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
March throws a right hand that misses
and Rutledge counters with a left and a right that stings March.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from March lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Rutledge has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Rutledge and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.

March pushes Rutledge up against the cage in a clinch.
March pushes off an throws an elbow but Rutledge leans to the side and avoids it. We're back to clinching against the cage.

March has hold of one of Rutledge's legs. Rutledge is fighting the takedown attempt but March gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.

March controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

Rutledge has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. March is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Rutledge.
March has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

March is looking to take a break and control but Rutledge is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

March is nestled in close to Rutledge, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
