Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Carlos Beltran (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and William Blake (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Blake is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Dead Man. Carlos Beltran has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Carlos Beltran!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, William Blake!
The judges for this bout are William Peck, Robert Douchet and Elvis Blanc.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Blake misses with a looping left.
Blake dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Beltran delivers a nice body kick.
Beltran has been working on his boxing with his coaches at Lebowski MMA in the buildup to the fight.
Beltran misses the shot to the body.
Blake uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Beltran.
Beltran tries a head kick but it misses.
Beltran takes a swing at Blake's ribcage but misses.
Blake drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Beltran defends it well.
Beltran misses with a hook to the body
and Blake counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Beltran moves away from the strike by Blake.
Blake walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Beltran throws a nice inside leg kick.

and Beltran counters with a head kick. That will keep Blake thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks!
Beltran scores with a crisp jab that stopped Blake in his tracks.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Beltran fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Blake manages to avoid it.
Blake lands a nice hook to Beltran's body. Beltran takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Carlos Beltran is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Beltran fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Blake has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.

Beltran darts in and out, connecting with a jab.

and Blake cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Beltran takes a swing at Blake's ribcage but misses.
Blake appears to be waiting to throw a counter punch to the body.
Blake throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Blake doesn't manage to clinch there - Beltran circles away.
It looked like Beltran was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Blake.

enabling Beltran to counter with a crisp jab.
Beltran is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches.

This has been an exciting period of action!
Beltran misses with a wild body shot.
Beltran moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
A low kick from Beltran is predictable there
and Blake counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Blake cracks Beltran with a right hand to the side of the head.
Beltran is looking to wear down Blake with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.
Beltran looks to throw the jab but Blake is out of range.
Blake throws a left and a right that both miss
and Blake takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Beltran throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Blake throws out a counter right but Beltran avoids it with no problem.
Blake takes one to the side of the head.
Beltran throws an off balance right hand
and Blake counters with a straight right hand.
Beltran scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.
Beltran uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Blake.
Blake keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Blake bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Beltran's head backwards.
Beltran paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.

Blake scores with a punch to the head.
Blake misses the jab.
Beltran appears to be looking for a counter punch to the body.
A jab from Beltran does it's job there.
Thud! ouch! good body kick from Beltran - that will leave a mark!
Blake throws a body punch but Beltran moves out of range.

Beltran lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

and Blake counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Beltran!
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Beltran can't do much from the bottom here.

Blake landing strikes.
Blake in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time.

Blake misses with an attempted head punch from side control.
The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Beltran tries to improve position but can't.
In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Blake working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though.
Blake throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.
Blake tries to move to mount but Beltran blocks the move with his legs.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Carlos Beltran will probably get the nod.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!



Blake drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Blake slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Beltran is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Blake cracks Beltran with an elbow. That is naaassty.

Blake has knee on belly and moves into mount.
Beltran is squirming around, avoiding Blake's attempts to control the action.
Beltran is looking to get to half guard.
Beltran wants to hold on but Blake pushes him away.
Blake trying to control but Beltran is having none of it.
Beltran regains half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Beltran has hold of Blake's hands but Blake slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Blake thows a huge punch but Beltran dodges it nicely.
Blake moves into full mount! Beltran won't be happy about that!

Blake wants to finish this one by submission but Beltran is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Blake.
Beltran takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.
Beltran tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Blake is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Beltran can't stay in a position like this for much longer.


Beltran is rocked!

Oh Beltran is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!

Blake is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

Blake is working for a kimura but Beltran is defending it quite comfortably.

Blake is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Beltran moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Blake throws a strike but Beltran rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Blake has momentary wrist control but Beltran slips an elbow through the middle.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

William Blake showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Beltran ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Blake moves away.

Blake fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Beltran sprawls well initially but Blake persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Beltran wants to control but Blake is keeping busy.
Blake has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Blake postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Beltran is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Blake, into his guard.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Blake is on top in guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Blake has his feet on Beltran's thighs here. He's pushed Beltran off and worked for a very quick armbar from the bottom! He's flipped onto his stomach and he's cranking hard on the arm! Beltran screams in pain and taps out! This one is all over!
