The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Monteiro paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Monteiro!
Monteiro swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Franklin counters with a three punch combo that has Monteiro backing up. Monteiro nods at Franklin to acknowledge the strikes.
Monteiro lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Franklin backs up against the cage.
A left and a right from Monteiro both land. Nice combination.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

and Franklin counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.

Monteiro lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.

Franklin is rocked!
Monteiro gets in close and tags Franklin with a short punch that almost sends Franklin to the mat! Oh Franklin is in big trouble! He turns his back on Monteiro, trying to create some distance but Monteiro rushes him, striking wildly and Franklin goes down! The referee tackles Monteiro into the cage to end the fight! Monteiro is one violent man!
