PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Anibal Mcmahon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Adam Pearce (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the prize buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Anibal Mcmahon!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Adam Pearce!
The judges for this bout are James Atkins, Phil Schofield and William Gold.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Pearce takes the fight into the clinch.

Mcmahon drags the fight down to the ground.
Pearce engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Mcmahon is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Pearce is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Pearce is fighting to break Mcmahon's control of his arms but Mcmahon is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
Mcmahon not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Pearce looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
Pearce trying to control the position from guard on top but Mcmahon is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Pearce postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Pearce feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Pearce keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Mcmahon's head.
Mcmahon really is a fat lump.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Pearce accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Pearce must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Mcmahon is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Pearce slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Mcmahon is trying to control Pearce's posture but Pearce avoids it.

Pearce looks up at the clock and then as Mcmahon takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Pearce smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Mcmahon is looking to regain half guard here but Pearce keeps moving and retains side control.
Mcmahon is trying to control Pearce's posture but Pearce avoids it.
Pearce scores with punches from side control.
Mcmahon wants to control but Pearce postures up.
Pearce in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows.
Pearce is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.

Pearce thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.



Pearce feints and as Mcmahon raises his hands in defense, Pearce changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Pearce controlling from the top position.
Pearce trying to control but Mcmahon is working from the bottom.
Pearce wanted to stand there but Mcmahon had control of the position.

Mcmahon has his foot on Pearce's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Pearce works his way back into a safe position though.

Mcmahon tries to clinch there but Pearce circles away.

Pearce shoots in and bounces Mcmahon off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Pearce is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.

Pearce distracts Mcmahon with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.

Mcmahon bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Pearce's guard.

Pearce is controlling Mcmahon's posture.
Pearce wants to stand but Mcmahon is controlling the position.
Mcmahon wanted to stand there but Pearce had control of the position.
Pearce looking for a sweep. Not yet Pearce, not yet.
Mcmahon is looking to stand up but Pearce won't let him.

Pearce working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Mcmahon doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Mcmahon manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Mcmahon wants to get up but he can't break Pearce's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Mcmahon stands up from guard. Let's bang!
Mcmahon fails with the takedown
and Pearce counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.

Pearce shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Mcmahon napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Pearce is breathing heavily.
Pearce tries to stand but Mcmahon is controlling his head.
Mcmahon tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Pearce wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Mcmahon can't do much from the bottom here.

Mcmahon tries to bench press Pearce off him but Pearce keeps the position.

You can see the frustration on Mcmahon's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Mcmahon is not content to let Pearce control the position.

Adam Pearce showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Mcmahon fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
As Mcmahon backs off Pearce throws a huge counter combo but Mcmahon manages to avoid it all.

Mcmahon tries to sprawl but Pearce drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Mcmahon wants to control but Pearce is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Pearce wants to pass to mount but Mcmahon is defending the position.
Mcmahon tries to roll over but Pearce keeps him under control.

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Pearce cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

Mcmahon is looking to get to half guard.
Mcmahon tries to lock up and control but Pearce gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Pearce wants to control the pace but Mcmahon is squirming around nicely.
Mcmahon bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!
Mcmahon postures up and lands a big shot to Pearce's brow.
Pearce looking for a sweep. Not yet Pearce, not yet.
Pearce not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Pearce utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Pearce wants to stand but Mcmahon is controlling the position.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Mcmahon tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Pearce paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Mcmahon gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Mcmahon escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Pearce gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Pearce cracks Mcmahon with a solid left hand.
Pearce trying to control but Mcmahon is working from the bottom.
Pearce controls from within his opponent's guard.

Pearce trying to stand up but can't free himself from Mcmahon's guard.
Pearce has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Well Pearce has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
