Coming up we have a featherweight Tycoon World Grappling Championship rules bout between Pako Laine and John Equinox. Laine comes into the arena with Living on a Prayer blaring out of the sound system. Pako Laine had a look across the cage there at his opponent. He definitely means business

This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the featherweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of Amsterdam, with a TWGC record of 2 wins and 0 losses; Pako Laine! And in the blue corner, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, with a TWGC record of 2 wins and 1 losses; John Equinox!
The judges for this bout are Jonathan Paton, Reed Andrews and Columbo Gatti.


The official calls the fighters to the middle and the contest is under way.
Equinox wants to clinch.
Laine tries to counter by clinching up but Equinox breaks away and moves out of range.

Laine has managed to clinch.
Equinox is working for takedown but Laine is calmly controlling the position for now.
Equinox is looking for a takedown.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Equinox goes for a takedown in the clinch but Laine prevents it.
Pako Laine has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of John Equinox.
Laine tries to pull guard but Equinox won't allow it.
Equinox fails to pull the fight into his guard.

Laine jumps into guard, dragging Equinox to the mat.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Equinox stands and throws Laine's legs to the side, diving into side control.

Laine is in a tricky position but he's been working on his transitions down at Gangsterdamage, so we'll see if he gets out of it.

Equinox trying to pass the guard but Laine defending well.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Equinox wants to lay and pray for a moment but Laine keeps working.
Equinox moves into full mount! Laine won't be happy about that!

Equinox jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Laine is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Laine and Equinox has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

Equinox wants to take Laine's back but he can't do it this time.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Laine in particular looking to stall.

Equinox is trying to escape the mount but Laine keeps good control and instead manages to take Equinox's back.

Laine is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Equinox is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
I really don't envy Equinox right now.

Laine wants to control but Equinox is keeping busy.
So, who will make the next big move? In this position it could be crucial.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

And that's the end of the fight!
Laine takes the fight on points by 13 to 12.
Pako Laine decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
