PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Charlie Simpson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Holt McCoy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Simpson comes to the cage accompanied by Straight F'n Edge by-THROWDOWN. McCoy is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Take it Outside. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McCoy displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Simpson throws out the jab.
Simpson swings and misses with a hook to the body.

Simpson scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Simpson is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. McCoy knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Simpson tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.

Simpson thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Simpson swings around for an armbar but McCoy sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Simpson's guard.
McCoy slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.

Simpson takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
McCoy is looking to take a break and control but Simpson is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
McCoy tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no McCoy has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

McCoy is working for what looks like an arm triangle here. Simpson is trying to escape and McCoy transitions quickly into an armbar! He's slapped it on tight and Simpson is forced to tap! Nice work there by McCoy! Very nice indeed!
