PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Rune Banchamek (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Oke Yagin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Yagin is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Red Hot Chilli Peppers - Higher Ground . Oke Yagin told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Rune Banchamek!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Oke Yagin!
The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Daniel Franklin and Frank Dennis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Yagin connects with a body shot.
Yagin lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Yagin misses with a two punch combination.

Yagin closes the distance and pushes Banchamek back into the cage.
Banchamek tries to work over Yagin's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
Yagin changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Banchamek fights it off and pushes away nicely.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Yagin has Banchamek pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Banchamek manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

Rune Banchamek has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Oke Yagin.
Yagin throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Banchamek stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

It looked like Banchamek was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Yagin.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Banchamek stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Banchamek wants it to stay on the feet.

Banchamek takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.

Yagin goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
Yagin turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
Yagin lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.

Yagin is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Banchamek's half guard.
Banchamek is staying active underneath Yagin, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Banchamek tries to roll over but Yagin keeps him under control.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Banchamek has not gone for a single takedown so far in this fight, which seems like a very strange tactic when you consider that he has the superior wrestling and BJJ.

Yagin wants the takedown. Banchamek is fighting it off but Yagin persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Banchamek's guard against the cage.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Yagin accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Yagin won't allow Banchamek to get back to his feet.

Oke Yagin comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Yagin has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

After the fight, Oke Yagin was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
