Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Mentor Guruland (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Calvin King (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). King has chosen ROAR by Katy Perry as his entrance music. Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the middleweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mentor Guruland!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Calvin King!
The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Wesley Smith and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
King uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Guruland.
King throws a nice inside leg kick.
Guruland has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
Guruland uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.


It looks like Calvin King has been cut.
Guruland connects with a body shot.
Nice cross by Guruland.
Guruland throws a leg kick
and King makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.
A looping hook to the body misses from Guruland. King does a little dance to reset his feet.
Guruland throws a body shot but no joy.
Guruland throws a lazy right hand but King sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Nice defenses there by King.
King loads up on a big right hand but Guruland slips the punch.
Guruland keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Guruland breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
King throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
Guruland takes one on the chin but seems OK.
King feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Guruland's calf.
Calvin King is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Guruland throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

King closes the distance and clinches.
A head punch on the inside from King fails to land.
Guruland swings away with an uppercut that misses.

Guruland successfully pulls guard.

Guruland has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but King can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
King slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
King wants to control from the top but Guruland keeps moving.

Guruland looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Guruland looking to control.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Guruland tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Guruland is trying to hold King in close to prevent damage but King has managed to pass into half guard.
Guruland wants to improve his position but King is controlling well.
King tries to pass the half guard into mount. Guruland knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Guruland is not content to let King control the position.
Guruland manages to get to full guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Guruland keeping moving, preventing King from controlling successfully.

King got a little sloppy there for a moment and Guruland has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, King has managed to get both his arms back between Guruland's legs - danger averted.
King really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Guruland. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Guruland trying to keep a closed guard but King is proving a slippery customer.

Guruland is trying to control the position from the bottom.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Guruland is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
King postures up.

King has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Guruland to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! King is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Guruland pulls down on the head and he's put King to sleep! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:45 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Mentor Guruland!
Mentor Guruland retains his middleweight title!
