Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Robert J Fredrick!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Erik McCarthy!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Frank Antenori and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McCarthy closes the distance and clinches up with Fredrick, looking for a takedown. McCarthy pushes Fredrick against the cage but Fredrick circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Fredrick drops McCarthy with a nice combination! Fredrick dives into McCarthy's guard, looking to finish!


It looks like Erik McCarthy has been cut.
McCarthy utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now McCarthy is on top in guard.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
McCarthy postures up.
McCarthy slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
McCarthy wants to pass the guard but Fredrick is keeping the position.

McCarthy throws a big right hand that misses.
McCarthy pushes down on Fredrick's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Fredrick tries to roll over but McCarthy keeps him under control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

McCarthy stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.
McCarthy looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.
McCarthy shoots for a double leg takedown but Fredrick sprawls well. He's pushed McCarthy's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
McCarthy walks forward, straight into a front kick from Fredrick.
Fredrick moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.
Fredrick throws a nice looking combination but McCarthy bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
McCarthy closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.


That has opened up Erik McCarthy's cut even more.
McCarthy shoots in for a takedown but Fredrick shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Robert J Fredrick has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Erik McCarthy.
Fredrick throws a nice inside leg kick.
McCarthy fails with a takedown attempt.
McCarthy looks winded!

That's three minutes gone in the round.

A big head kick from Fredrick and McCarthy is sent sprawling to the canvas!
McCarthy wants to sweep but no luck.
Fredrick trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Fredrick trying to control but McCarthy is working from the bottom.

McCarthy working for a triangle but Fredrick defends it easily.
McCarthy is trying to control the position but Fredrick postures up.

McCarthy throws some sloppy strikes off his back.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

McCarthy is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Fredrick defends well.
Our spies down at at Heart Cave inform us that McCarthy has really been working on his submissions in the buildup to this fight. Will it pay off?
McCarthy keeping moving, preventing Fredrick from controlling successfully.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
McCarthy moves forwards but Fredrick connects with a nice, crisp jab.


The cut above Erik McCarthy's eye is starting to cause him problems now.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Fredrick connects with a right hand. McCarthy shakes it off.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Robert J Fredrick dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Erik McCarthy's cut.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Fredrick blocks the body kick.
Fredrick throws the left hand but McCarthy avoids the punch easily.
Fredrick feints and then cracks McCarthy's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow McCarthy down.
Fredrick lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
Fredrick is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that McCarthy can do to turn this around?
McCarthy tries to score a power double leg takedown but Fredrick sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten McCarthy somewhat.
Robert J Fredrick seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Fredrick lands a glancing blow to the side of McCarthy's head.
Fredrick throws a looping overhand right but McCarthy ducks down to avoid it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Fredrick lands a jab to the nose.


Erik McCarthy's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters.
McCarthy slips a jab and a cross from Fredrick.
Fredrick loads up on a big right hand but McCarthy slips the punch.
Fredrick stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Fredrick wants it to stay on the feet.
McCarthy has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Fredrick.

That's one minute gone in the round.
McCarthy stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Fredrick.
McCarthy takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Fredrick is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by McCarthy.
Fredrick lands a nice leg kick that just misses McCarthy's sensitive parts.
Fredrick connects with a leg kick. McCarthy looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
Fredrick throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Fredrick lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Erik McCarthy's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:34 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Cut). Robert J Fredrick!
