PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Ricardo Gomes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sean OCasey (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

The judges for this bout are Chris Saunders, Paul Gruel and Jeff Smith.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

OCasey changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Gomes looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

OCasey working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
OCasey wants to lay and pray for a moment but Gomes keeps working.
Gomes tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but OCasey wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
OCasey throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.
The referee asks OCasey politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. OCasey prefers to stall for the moment though.

OCasey is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Gomes knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Gomes is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so OCasey is just riding it out for now. Gomes eventually gives up the hold.

Gomes looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

OCasey slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.

Gomes drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and OCasey dives on top into guard.

OCasey is in close to Gomes's body, working some short punches and elbows.

Gomes escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. OCasey gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
OCasey passes Gomes's left leg - he's now in half guard.

OCasey is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Gomes is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!
