The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Strong throws a quick inside leg kick.

Strong moves into the clinch.
Kilpatrick has Strong pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Strong manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Strong with a knee to the head.
Kilpatrick tries for a takedown. No joy.
Strong lands an uppercut.
Kilpatrick avoiding damage.

Strong breaks the clinch.
Nice body kick there by Strong.
Kilpatrick misses with a double jab
and Strong counters with a good low kick that Kilpatrick was not able to check.
Strong throws a leg kick which misses Kilpatrick 's front leg but catches the back leg as Kilpatrick tries to avoid it.
Scamus Kilpatrick seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Good leg kick by Strong there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.

Kilpatrick closes the distance but Strong moves to the side
and Strong counters with a nice kick to the body.

and Strong counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.
Kilpatrick is breathing heavily.
Strong moves into range and connects with a jab.
Kilpatrick doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Strong counters with a leg kick.

Strong goes for a high kick. It partially lands.
Strong fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Kilpatrick has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.

Strong turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
Strong's coach down at SWF GYM - JUDO 'n' MMA was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Strong's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.

A less than humble Joe Strong misjudged his post fight interview somewhat and came across a little too arrogant whilst trying to hype up his own abilities.
