Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jay Gatsby!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Yaniv Schulmann!
The judges for this bout are Wagner Zegers, Nard Betker and Aafke Stam.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Schulmann lands a slapping body shot.
Gatsby looks to land a left hand but Schulmann moved out of range nicely.
Schulmann throws out a counter right but Gatsby avoids it with no problem.
A telegraphed right hand from Gatsby misses the target.
Schulmann counters with a body kick.
Schulmann lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Gatsby at a distance.
A telegraphed right hand from Gatsby misses the target.
Gatsby misses with a hook.
Schulmann replies with a solid counter kick to the body but Gatsby blocks it well.
Gatsby takes a shot right to the bread basket.
Gatsby keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Schulmann.
We've been hearing reports that Gatsby has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.
Gatsby fails to land with a series of punches.

Gatsby rushes Schulmann and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Gatsby has a couple of punches blocked by Schulmann.
Gatsby is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Gatsby tries a body shot but Schulmann blocks it.
Schulmann is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Schulmann lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards.
Schulmann tries to work over Gatsby's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
Gatsby working some nice short punches in the clinch.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Schulmann has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Gatsby uses from the top position.

Schulmann has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Gatsby can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Schulmann is looking for a triangle but Gatsby pushes his legs off easily.

Gatsby is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Schulmann is trying to control the position but Gatsby postures up.

Gatsby got a little sloppy there for a moment and Schulmann has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Gatsby has managed to get both his arms back between Schulmann's legs - danger averted.

Gatsby is in close to Schulmann's body, working some short punches and elbows.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Gatsby passes Schulmann's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Schulmann is looking for a sweep. Gatsby is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Gatsby takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Gatsby winds up and cracks Schulmann with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Gatsby trying to mount his opponent but Schulmann defends it.
Gatsby is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!
Schulmann is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Gatsby tries to control but Schulmann wriggling away.

Schulmann is desperately trying to improve his position but Gatsby has a good base and remains in mount.
Schulmann slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.
Schulmann gets full guard.

Schulmann escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Gatsby gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Gatsby is working Schulmann over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Gatsby working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Schulmann keeping moving, preventing Gatsby from controlling successfully.
Gatsby passes Schulmann's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Schulmann looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Gatsby lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Gatsby is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!
Gatsby breaks from Schulmann's wrist control and lands an elbow.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Schulmann is working to get back to half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Schulmann keeps trying to improve his position.
Gatsby working away from the top, dropping strikes.


Schulmann is rocked!
Gatsby drops a big elbow. That's hurt Schulmann! More shots from Gatsby and the ref steps in! The fight is over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:34 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Jay Gatsby!
Post fight, Jay Gatsby took to the microphone: 'My life, old sport, my life... my life has got to be like this... It's got to keep going on.'.
