Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Josef Hardy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Miguel Porrada (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Josef Hardy has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, Josef Hardy!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Miguel Porrada!
The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, James Ackerman and Colin Fotheringham.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Hardy closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Porrada can't do much from the bottom here.
Hardy in side control, throwing shots but Porrada defends.
Porrada pushes Hardy away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Hardy gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

Porrada is trying to control Hardy's posture but Hardy avoids it.
I wouldn't like to be where Porrada is right now.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Porrada can do anything to dispel that myth.

The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

The referee asks Hardy politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Hardy prefers to stall for the moment though.
Hardy seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Porrada for as long as he can get away with.

Hardy throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Porrada was covering up waiting for the punch and Hardy finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Porrada has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. Hardy is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position.

Porrada has Hardy pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Porrada pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Hardy tumbling to the mat - Porrada dives into Hardy's guard.

Hardy feints and as Porrada raises his hands in defense, Hardy changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Hardy connects with a nice short shot to Porrada's temple.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Porrada enables Hardy to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Porrada manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Porrada is fighting to break Hardy's control of his arms but Hardy is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

Porrada got a little sloppy there for a moment and Hardy has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Porrada has managed to get both his arms back between Hardy's legs - danger averted.
