Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Ben Henley (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Roman Kersikov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kersikov has chosen Iron Maiden - The Wicker Man as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 25 - 6 - 0, fighting out of New York, Roman Kersikov!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Henley blocks the body kick.
Henley is looking to counter punch.
Kersikov swings for the body but Henley moves out of range.
Henley is looking to counter punch.
Kersikov lands with a thumping leg kick.
Kersikov tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Henley swung with a counter punch to the body but it didn't connect.
A head kick misses from Kersikov.
A solid leg kick lands there for Kersikov.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

and Kersikov counters with a body kick that stops Henley in his tracks momentarily.

Henley has a nice red mark on his side after a thudding body kick by Kersikov.
Kersikov buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.

Kersikov steps in looking to counter with the mid kick but it doesn't connect.

Kersikov is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Kersikov bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Henley's guard.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Kersikov accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Henley has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Kersikov can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Henley is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Henley is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Kersikov is aware though and is defending well.
Kersikov wants to pass the guard but Henley is keeping the position.
We've been hearing good reports from Henley's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.
Kersikov slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.

Kersikov tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.

Kersikov lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Henley down.

Kersikov working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

Kersikov has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Kersikov seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

Roman Kersikov showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!

It looked like Henley wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.

Kersikov looks for a left high kick but can't connect. Kersikov backs up to catch a breather... no he lunges forward with a huge flying knee that smacks Henley's temple! It sends Henley violently to the canvas! The crowd goes nuts as Kersikov celebrates and the doctors try to help Henley!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:58 of round 3, we have a winner by way of KO (Flying Knee). Roman Kersikov!
Our winner, Roman Kersikov, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
