PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Faustino Washington (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Steve Dunham (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Dunham has chosen Blowing Bubbles as his entrance music. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dunham finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.

Dunham closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Washington did well to prevent Dunham getting side control.

Dunham is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Dunham connects with a nice short shot to Washington's temple.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Dunham lands a couple of elbows.
Washington preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Dunham makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Washington keeping moving, preventing Dunham from controlling successfully.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Dunham throws a big elbow that misses.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

Dunham drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Dunham jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Washington gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Dunham to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Dunham lands a couple of digs.
Dunham stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Washington swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Dunham connects with a couple of short punches.
Washington manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Dunham manages to get himself to full guard.

Dunham wants to sweep here but Washington controlling him for the moment.
Washington could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Dunham pulls Washington in close to prevent any damage.

Dunham has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. Washington is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Washington breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Horrible takedown attempt by Dunham or perhaps it was just good defense by Washington, which made it look bad.
Washington tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Dunham manages to circle out of the way.

Dunham fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Washington to the ground. Dunham is now in Washington's guard.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Dunham has gone for a leg lock! Washington slips out almost immediately though and dives into Dunham's guard.

Washington wants to get up but he can't break Dunham's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Washington shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Dunham pinned against the cage. Dunham gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Washington stands and steps away. Dunham gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Oh Washington is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!

Dunham loads up on a couple of big shots to the head that have Washington scrambling to escape. He can't get free though and several more unanswered shots from Dunham land to the head. The referee has no choice but to stop the fight. Dunham stands and salutes the crowd.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:27 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Steve Dunham!
Steve Dunham decided to hype himself up post fight. It was going well but he went on about it a bit too long and the crowd turned on him a little.
