PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Cactus Jack (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Saul Tigh (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jack comes to the cage accompanied by Symphony Of Destruction by Megadeth. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Cactus Jack!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Saul Tigh!
The judges for this bout are Steve Montenegro, John Roberts and John Kavanagh.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Jack has managed to clinch.
Tigh pushes Jack back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.
Jack tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
With the fighters up against the cage, Jack throws an elbow but misses.
Tigh wants to break free but Jack has control.
Jack struggles to land a body shot inside as Tigh controls his hands.
Tigh has a couple of punches blocked by Jack.
Tigh avoids the elbow strike from Jack, against the cage.
Tigh misses with the head strike.
Jack throws a nice elbow but it doesn't land.
Jack creates a bit of distance and throws an elbow that only just misses.

Tigh manages to break the clinch.
Jack definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Tigh bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Jack's head.


It looks like Cactus Jack has been cut.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Tigh takes a swing at Jack's ribcage but misses.
Saul Tigh seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Jack tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Tigh manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Tigh scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Jack doesn't seem bothered though.

Jack keeps control of Tigh as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.

Jack is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.
Jack lands a glancing elbow in the clinch.

Tigh has been looking to improve his clinch game in recent weeks. Jack seems to have the measure of him in the clinch so far, so let's see if Tigh can turn it around.
Jack presses Tigh against the cage and delivers a mid-strength body shot.

Jack pushes off an throws an elbow but Tigh leans to the side and avoids it. We're back to clinching against the cage.

It looks like Saul Tigh has been cut.

Tigh lands with a right to the head.
Jack misses with a body punch.
Tigh takes an elbow to the temple.
With the fighters up against the cage, Jack throws an elbow but misses.
Tigh prevents a body shot from Jack.
Jack is trying to stall.
Tigh tries to break the clinch but Jack is controlling the position.
Jack manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.
Jack misses with an elbow over the top.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
A shot in the inside from Tigh.
Jack leaning against his opponent.
Jack tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Tigh avoids it.
Tigh lands with a short punch from the clinch.
Jack lands an elbow inside.
Jack is clearly stalling here... Pick up the pace son.

Tigh breaks the clinch.
Tigh throws a big shot that misses.

Jack closes the distance and clinches.
Jack pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the cage.

Tigh breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Jack moves into the clinch successfully.
Tigh has had enough of the clinch but Jack keeps him there for the moment.

Tigh breaks from the clinch.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Jack doesn't manage to clinch there - Tigh circles away.
Tigh connects with the punch.
Tigh fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Jack manages to avoid it.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Tigh throws a jab but it's blocked by Jack.
Tigh fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Jack tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

Jack clinches up against the cage.
Jack is pushing Tigh up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.
Tigh taking a break, stalling in the clinch.
A head punch blocked on the inside by Jack.
Tigh lands a right hand that snaps the head of Jack backwards.
Jack lands an elbow that stopped Tigh in his tracks for a moment.
Tigh blocks an elbow strike from Jack.
Jack misses with an elbow over the top.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Cactus Jack will probably get the nod.
Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Tigh throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Jack on the side of the head.
Saul Tigh is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
The fight stays on the outside here - Jack looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Tigh ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Jack moves away.
A swing and a miss from Tigh.
Tigh misses with a looping left.
Jack staying out of range there.
Tigh throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Jack wants to take advantage of his opponent's missed offense by moving into the clinch.
Jack is looking to clinch but Tigh is avoiding it.
Tigh looks like he wants to counter punch here.

Tigh feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Jack sprawling to the canvas! Jack rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Tigh finish him?!


Jack is rocked!
This has been an exciting period of action!
Tigh lands with a precision combination! Left, right, uppercut and Jack falls flat on his face, eyes wide open but he's out!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:39 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Saul Tigh!
