The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nikolaev closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Alaniz quickly recovers to half guard.

Nikolaev is working Alaniz over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Alaniz trying to keep a closed guard but Nikolaev is proving a slippery customer.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Nikolaev accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Alaniz looking to try and escape his hips here, looking for a submission. It looks like he's going for a triangle but Nikolaev is defending well. Alaniz quickly switches to an armbar and extends the arm! Nikolaev has no choice but to tap, to a very quick submission! Wow, that was lightning fast! Alaniz celebrates on the cage, with the crowd.
