Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Magnus Cross (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Connor Mac Burns (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Burns comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Oró Sé do Bheath Abhaile kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the heavyweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 23 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Magnus Cross!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Connor Mac Burns!
The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, George Francis and Robert Twigg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Burns fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Cross, pushing him back against the cage.
Cross tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Burns smiles and moves away.
Burns bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Burns throws a hook to the side of Cross's head but Cross sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Cross swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.
Burns misses with a series of wild punches.
Nice jab there from Cross.
Cross defending well as Burns loads up on a big left hand.
Burns uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Cross.
Burns lands a head shot.
Cross misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Cross scores with a punch to the head.
Cross takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
A looping hook to the body misses from Burns. Cross does a little dance to reset his feet.
Burns ducks under a wild hook from Cross.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Cross misses the jab.
Burns throws a right hand that misses
and Cross counters with a series of strikes. Burns will be more careful next time no doubt.
Cross misses with a hook.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Cross lands a head shot.

Burns feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Burns trying to control the position from guard on top but Cross is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Cross wants to get back to his feet but Burns is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Burns drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Burns jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Burns trying to control the position from guard on top but Cross is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Cross wants to get back to his feet but Burns is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Burns looking to pass the guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Burns not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Cross wants to stand up but Burns is controlling him.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Burns cracks Cross with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Cross slips under a jab from Burns.
Cross tries to close the distance and clinch up but Burns swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Burns feints the counter takedown.
Cross throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Burns ducks under a wild hook from Cross.
Cross slips under a jab from Burns.
Burns looks to land a left hand but Cross moved out of range nicely.
Cross tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Burns manages to circle out of the way.
Cross takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Burns throws a nice inside leg kick.
Cross works Burns's body with a nice hook.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Cross throws out a loose jab but Burns uses good head movement to avoid it.
Burns lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Burns misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Cross.

Cross throws a series of punches but Burns moves out of range.
Burns keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Cross.
Cross looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Burns misses the jab.
Cross tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Burns manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Burns uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.
Burns tries to clinch there but Cross circles away.

Burns drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Cross will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Cross wants to stand and escape but Burns is having none of it.
Burns passes Cross's left leg - he's now in half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Cross is refusing to be controlled, as Burns sits in half guard.

Cross kicks off Burns and gets to his feet.
Nice cross by Cross.
Cross cracks Burns with a good jab.
Burns scores with a shot to the body.
Burns uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Cross.
Magnus Cross is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Burns throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Cross tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Burns is in Cross's guard.
Cross wants to get back to his feet but Burns is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Burns passes easily into side control. Nice work.
What's Cross going to do here then? He's in a bit of a pickle.
Cross prevents Burns from improving position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Magnus Cross will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Cross wants to take advantage of his opponent's missed offense by moving into the clinch.
Cross looks to throw the jab but Burns is out of range.
Burns lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Magnus Cross is winning the standup battle so far.
Burns ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
A combination from Burns does no damage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Cross scores with a nice head shot.
Cross takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.

Cross steps into range and cracks Burns with a monster punch that buckles his knees! Burns flops backwards and Cross dives into his guard looking to finish!


It looks like Connor Mac Burns has been cut.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Cross avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Cross loads up on a big left hand. Burns felt that one! He's just covering up now, not defending himself intelligently - Cross looks towards the ref and unloads with 3 more big shots and the ref has no choice but to stop the fight! Burns can't hide his disappointment, as Cross celebrates the victory.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:20 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Magnus Cross!

Magnus Cross decided to thank the fans in attendance for making a great atmosphere. It seemed to go down pretty well.
The defeated Connor Mac Burns had this to say: 'Man, I keep getting matched up with beast veterans.. Bad luck bad luck.. Just wait till I get a little older.'.
