Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Wally Pinn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Felipe Cirkunov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The key to victory for Wally Pinn has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Wally Pinn!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Felipe Cirkunov!
The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Dillan Fox and Yves DeLean.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pinn lands with a right hand.
Cirkunov tries to score a power double leg takedown but Pinn sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Cirkunov somewhat.
Cirkunov takes one to the side of the head.
Cirkunov closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
Pinn tries to clinch up.
Cirkunov gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Pinn.
Pinn connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
Pinn is looking to clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Pinn uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.
The fight stays on the outside here - Cirkunov looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Pinn closes the distance and pushes Cirkunov back into the cage.

Pinn landing knees to the body. They look like they could hurt.
Pinn stalling.
Cirkunov is trying to break the clinch but Pinn has him pressed against the cage.
The pace really dropping off here, momentarily.
Pinn is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Cirkunov is defending well for now.
Pinn has Cirkunov pressed against the cage, preventing Cirkunov from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Cirkunov is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
Pinn with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.

A frustrated look appears on Cirkunov's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Cirkunov blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
Cirkunov jumps guard but Pinn turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
Wally Pinn has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Felipe Cirkunov.
Cirkunov on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
Pinn avoids a wild elbow strike from Cirkunov.
Knees in the clinch landing for Pinn.
Cirkunov jumps guard but Pinn stands there with Cirkunov around his waist. Cirkunov gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Pinn is pushing Cirkunov up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.
Pinn unloads a knee to the mid-section. Cirkunov lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh.

The referee calls for Pinn to work.
Cirkunov is struggling to control the position.
Cirkunov tries to pull guard but Pinn holds him up against the cage and eventually Cirkunov drops back down to his feet.

Cirkunov has hold of one of Pinn's legs. Pinn is fighting the takedown attempt but Cirkunov gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.
Cirkunov is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Pinn wants to stand but Cirkunov is controlling the position.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Cirkunov decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Pinn scores with a jab to the jaw.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Wally Pinn dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Cirkunov tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
A left lands for Pinn.
Pinn stalks Cirkunov and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Cirkunov's face. Cirkunov staggers backwards, shaken.

Cirkunov gets the takedown into side control.

Cirkunov decides to stand up, so the ref orders Pinn to his feet.
Pinn scores with a hook.
Pinn connects with a looping right hand.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

No joy there for Pinn, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Good exchange - Pinn coming out on top.
Cirkunov uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Pinn.
A combination from Pinn does no damage.
Cirkunov shoots and misses
and Pinn connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Cirkunov keeps the fight on the outside.
Cirkunov with the counter takedown but Pinn avoids it easily.

Cirkunov drops his hands momentarily and Pinn takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
Wally Pinn is winning the standup battle so far.
Cirkunov avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Cirkunov fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Wally Pinn is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Cirkunov takes one on the chin but keeps coming.

Pinn moves into the clinch.
Both fighters working to control the clinch.
Pinn landing knees to the body. They look like they could hurt.
Pinn lands a nice knee to the body.
Pinn is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Cirkunov is defending well for now.

Cirkunov ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Cirkunov no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Pinn wants to get up but he can't break Cirkunov's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Cirkunov is pulling down on Pinn's head to control his posture.
Pinn trying to stand up but can't free himself from Cirkunov's guard.

Pinn wants to stand up, so he's looking to wriggle free of Cirkunov's closed guard. He's half up but Cirkunov has locked on to an arm! Uh oh! Cirkunov pivots and extends the arm, Pinn falls face first to the mat and taps??... does he?? YES! He's tapping! Excellent counter grappling there by Cirkunov! Well done that man!
