Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Mick Shaw (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Aquiles Romero (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Shaw comes to the cage accompanied by Silver Bullet - Bring Forth The Guillotine. Romero has chosen Scotland The Brave as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Mick Shaw!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Aquiles Romero!
The judges for this bout are George Francis, Chris Downing and Stewart Dunkirk.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Romero swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Shaw blocks a head kick by Romero.

A quick step to the side and Shaw tries to counter with a shot to the body but it doesn't connect.
A slow jab from Shaw misses its intended target.

Romero throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Shaw.
Shaw tries to land a front kick but Romero steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.

We've been told by Shaw's head coaches at Netherlands Top Team that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Shaw keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.

Shaw has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.

It looked like Shaw was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.

Despite the aggression on Romero's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter.

Romero's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Romero duly obliges.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Shaw throws a big counter combination but Romero scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage.
Shaw takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.

Romero lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
Romero throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
As Romero looks to move away, Shaw throws a big counter combo but Romero just gets out of the way.
Shaw fails to land with a series of punches.
This entire fight has taken place on the feet so far and you wonder whether Shaw might be better served trying to take this one to the ground because he's losing the standup battle so far.

Shaw is looking to wear down Romero with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.
Romero tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Shaw was well out of range. Poor timing from Romero.

A nice side step and Romero releases a counter shot to the body, but it doesn't find it's home.
Shaw throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Romero circles to his right before unloading a perfect head kick! Shaw drops to the canvas, hurt badly! Romero follows Shaw to the ground and unloads with a series of strikes that force the referee to step in and end the fight! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:46 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Aquiles Romero!
In his post fight interview, Aquiles Romero gave a big smile as he said 'I want to fight Nick Diaz in this weight class in this division!'.
