PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Lars Thunstrom (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Raijin Kage (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Thunstrom comes to the cage accompanied by Prodigy - Spitfire. Kage comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Ride the Lightning kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 20 - 9 - 1, fighting out of London, Raijin Kage!
The judges for this bout are Lou da Vinci, Franklyn Lucas and Dean Styles.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kage looking to land some kicks to the body here.
Kage throws a body kick that misses.
A shot to the body from Kage misses
and Thunstrom counters with a straight right hand.
Kage ducks under a wild hook from Thunstrom.
Kage throws a low kick but Thunstrom moves out of range easily.
Thunstrom misses the shot to the body.
Kage walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Thunstrom checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.
Kage tries to work over Thunstrom's front leg with a kick but Thunstrom checks it.
Kage thumps Thunstrom with a low kick.
Thunstrom looks to land a left hand but Kage moved out of range nicely.
Thunstrom swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
A nice inside leg kick there by Kage. That's going to slow Thunstrom down.
Thunstrom throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean.

Thunstrom throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Kage tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Thunstrom is in Kage's guard.
Kage is looking to sweep but instead, Thunstrom has passed into half guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Thunstrom is looking for a kimura but Kage is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Thunstrom to get the leverage.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Thunstrom wants to take a breather but Kage is having none of it.

Kage is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Thunstrom pulls his head out easily.

Thunstrom is persistently looking for the submission but Kage is defending it well.
Thunstrom has the hooks in. Kage is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Thunstrom has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Kage has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!

Kage tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell!
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Kage tries to reverse the position but Thunstrom maintains control.

Thunstrom is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Kage has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Kage!

Kage got a little sloppy there for a moment and Thunstrom has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Kage has managed to get both his arms back between Thunstrom's legs - danger averted.
Kage throws a strike but Thunstrom rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Kage had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Thunstrom defends it easily.

Thunstrom throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Kage was covering up waiting for the punch and Thunstrom finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Kage throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Thunstrom escapes and throws Kage's legs to the side, diving into side control!

Thunstrom seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Kage does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Thunstrom is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Kage is just riding it out for now. Thunstrom eventually gives up the hold.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Kage has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. Thunstrom doesn't defend quickly enough and Kage has managed to lock this one up! Can Thunstrom escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Kage on a fantastic submission victory.
