Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Remigijus Morkevicius (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ryan Vardey (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Vardey has chosen savior as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A combination from Morkevicius does no damage.
Vardey looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Morkevicius looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.

Vardey swats away the attempt to clinch by Morkevicius.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Vardey drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Morkevicius dives on top into guard.

Vardey working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Morkevicius doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Morkevicius manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Vardey is trying to control but can't.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Morkevicius closes the distance and clinches up with Vardey, looking for a takedown. Morkevicius pushes Vardey against the cage but Vardey circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
As Morkevicius backs off Vardey throws a huge counter combo but Morkevicius manages to avoid it all.
Vardey shoots for a double leg takedown but Morkevicius sprawls well. He's pushed Vardey's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

and Vardey makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.

Morkevicius stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Morkevicius wants it to stay on the feet.
Vardey just manages to avoid a counter high kick fromMorkevicius.

Morkevicius gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Vardey closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Morkevicius's guard.

Ryan Vardey has got the better of the ground game so far.

Morkevicius wants to get back to his feet but Vardey is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Vardey seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Morkevicius wants to stand and escape but Vardey is having none of it.

Vardey controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Vardey shoots for a takedown but Morkevicius saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
