And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Kyle Collins!
The judges for this bout are Reed Andrews, Russell Pearce and Eddie Farnsworth.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Collins feints and as Maximus raises his hands in defense, Collins changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Collins looking to pass the guard.
Maximus keeping moving, preventing Collins from controlling successfully.
Maximus is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Collins trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
We've been hearing good reports from Maximus's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.
Collins controlling from the top position.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Maximus seems keen to control Collins's posture.
Collins slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Collins moves out of range of the strikes.
Collins misses with a kick to the body.
A nice inside leg kick there by Collins. That's going to slow Maximus down.
Nice uppercut there from Collins.
DJ Maximus is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Maximus misses with an uppercut.
A head kick from Maximus lands but Collins takes it in his stride.

It looks like Kyle Collins has been cut.
Collins has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
Collins tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Maximus defends well and Collins ends up having to push Maximus into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Maximus works Collins's body with a nice hook.
Maximus throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Collins will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Collins shoots in but Maximus avoids the takedown attempt easily.
A counter left hand to the body from Maximus misses its target.
DJ Maximus has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kyle Collins.
Maximus throws a body punch but Collins moves out of range.
Maximus looks to land a right hand but Collins moved out of range.
Maximus misses the shot to the body.

Collins looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Collins is looking to take a break and control but Maximus is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Collins wants to pass to mount but Maximus is defending the position.
Collins seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Maximus does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Collins is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.

Collins thows a huge punch but Maximus dodges it nicely.
Collins trying to control the action but Maximus is working from the bottom.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Collins is looking to advance position but Maximus won't allow it.
Collins is controlling the pace.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Maximus will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Maximus sends Collins crashing to the mat with a devastating uppercut! Maximus is motioning to the referee to let Collins up. He wants to try and finish this one on the feet!
Collins thows a leg kick but Maximus checks it
and Maximus scores with a counter punch that sends Collins to the canvas! Maximus smells blood - he's punishing Collins with more strikes and the ref has stopped it! Collins has no idea where he is - he's tackled the ref... oh dear, poor guy, the crowd is in hysterics!
