PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Dean Kane (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Antero Vasara (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kane comes into the arena with Spiderman blaring out of the sound system. Antero Vasara has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Dean Kane's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Dean Kane!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Antero Vasara!
The judges for this bout are Radbod Blank, Albert Achterberg and Nard Betker.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Vasara fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Kane manages to avoid it.
Vasara looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.

Kane pushes Vasara up against the cage in a clinch.
Kane fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Vasara effectively controlling the action here.
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Kane takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.
Vasara lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.

Vasara escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Kane throws a low kick but it's checked well by Vasara.
Kane sizes up Vasara with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Vasara fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
Kane throws an off balance right hand
and Vasara counters with a stiff right hand.
Kane lands a head shot.
Vasara throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Kane misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Dean Kane seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Kane throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
A countering left hand to the body from Vasara misses.
Kane wants to clinch.
Kane fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Vasara is out of range.
Nice shot lands for Vasara.
The fight stays on the outside here - Kane looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
A little jabbing left from Vasara on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
We've been told by Kane's head coaches at Bullet Proof Dungeon that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
Kane uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Vasara.
Kane wants to take advantage of his opponent's missed offense by moving into the clinch.
Vasara blocks a jab.
Vasara scores with a nice strike.
Kane uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Vasara.
Kane misses with a wild body shot.
Kane displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Vasara throws out the jab.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Kane blocks a jab.
Kane misses with a low kick.
Kane defending well as Vasara loads up on a big left hand.
A telegraphed right hand from Kane misses the target.
A nice side step and Vasara releases a counter shot to the body, but it doesn't find it's home.
Vasara avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
A swing and a miss from Vasara.
Vasara looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Kane tries to clinch but Vasara is having none of it.
Vasara tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Kane was well out of range. Poor timing from Vasara.
Danga de danga de dang - Kane scores with a four punch combination!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Kane throws a hook to the side of Vasara's head but Vasara sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

Kane closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Vasara scores with a shot to the side of Kane's head.
Kane misses with a hook from the clinch.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Kane gets a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Vasara regains full guard. Nicely done.
Vasara controls Kane momentarily but Kane frees himself.
Kane wants to pass the guard but Vasara is keeping the position.
Vasara bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Kane's guard.


Kane has his foot on Vasara's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Vasara works his way back into a safe position though.
Kane striking off his back but it's not causing Vasara any problems.
Vasara controls from within his opponent's guard.

Vasara is posturing up here but Kane has hold of an arm and he's gone for an armbar! Vasara tries to roll out but it's too tight and Vasara has to tap! Slick submission there by Kane!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:58 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Dean Kane!
An out of breath and clearly excited Dean Kane thanked *NEW* Revolution Clothing for their help and support (and free stuff they sent him).
