Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Adam Carolla (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Matt Freeman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Carolla comes to the cage accompanied by Gotta Get It On from Taboo 2. Adam Carolla has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 57 - 51 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Adam Carolla!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 23 - 16 - 1, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Matt Freeman!
The judges for this bout are Luis Engracia, Alexandre Firmino and Matheus Silva.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Freeman shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Carolla's guard.
Freeman trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Freeman wants to pass the guard but Carolla is keeping the position.
Freeman throws a big right hand that misses.
Carolla preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Freeman would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Carolla.
Freeman circles away from the clinch attempt.
Freeman displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Carolla throws out the jab.

Freeman decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

My spies in The Warehouse inform me that Freeman has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!

Still in half guard, Freeman seems content to control.
Let's hope that Freeman has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Carolla has a closed guard, preventing Freeman from standing up.
Carolla wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

Freeman wants to control from the top but Carolla keeps moving.
Freeman is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Carolla thows a left - swing and a miss!

Freeman closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Carolla to the mat! Carolla manages to get full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Freeman is looking to stand up but Carolla won't let him.
Carolla looking to hit a scissor sweep but Freeman is one step ahead there.
Freeman postures up in Carolla's guard and throws a big left but Carolla blocks it.

Freeman is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Freeman wants to get up but he can't break Carolla's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Carolla swings away with a body shot that misses
and Freeman counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
Carolla will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Freeman closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Freeman lands in his opponent's guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Matt Freeman dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Horrible takedown attempt by Freeman or perhaps it was just good defense by Carolla, which made it look bad.

Carolla leaves Freeman with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Carolla throws a hook but Freeman blocks it.
Freeman uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Carolla.
Freeman lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected.
Carolla fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Freeman manages to avoid it.
Carolla fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Freeman is out of range.

Freeman takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Freeman seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Carolla regains full guard. Nicely done.
Freeman engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Freeman accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Carolla tries to bum rush Freeman with a series of wild strikes but Freeman uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Carolla enables Freeman to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Carolla manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Carolla can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Freeman controls the pace.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Freeman with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Carolla to score with a decent uppercut.

Freeman shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Freeman was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Freeman has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Freeman is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Carolla is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Matt Freeman showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Carolla's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!

Carolla takes a swing at Freeman's ribcage but misses.
Carolla is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range.
