PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Junior Jawo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Simon Bates (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Simon Bates was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Simon Bates!
The judges for this bout are Jeff Smith, Chris Saunders and Micheangelo Fripello.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Jawo closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Jawo lands in his opponent's guard.

Jawo drops back looking for a leg! Bates is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Bates manages to kick Jawo off! Jawo jumps back into Bates's guard.

Bates has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Jawo can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Jawo drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Jawo jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Bates is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Jawo defends well.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Jawo is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Jawo is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Bates is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Bates has escaped and now he's on top!

Bates postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Bates really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Jawo. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Jawo is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a triangle but Bates frees his head nicely. Oh but Jawo has switched to an armbar! Bates is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!

Junior Jawo got down on his knees post fight and begged the management for a title shot. 'Please, I want that title shot so bad! Give it to me!'
