Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Peter James (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and William Avery (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). James comes to the cage accompanied by micheal jackson beat it. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Peter James!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, William Avery!
The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, George Francis and Robert Twigg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Avery shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as James sprawls well. James wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Avery gets slowly back to his feet.
James ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Avery fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
James misses with a wild body shot.
Avery takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
James is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Avery.
And Avery tries to counter it with a takedown but James pushes his down on his head and steps out.
Peter James seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

James moves into the clinch successfully.
James has Avery pressed against the cage.

Avery jumps guard and drags James to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as James accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Avery looking to hit a scissor sweep but James is one step ahead there.

James gets to his feet - Avery follows without any prompting.

That's one minute gone in the round.
James misses with a double jab.
James throws out a loose jab but Avery uses good head movement to avoid it.
And Avery tries to counter it with a takedown but James pushes his down on his head and steps out.
James tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Avery was well out of range. Poor timing from James.
James leaves Avery with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
A big left from Avery misses.
James throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.

James tries to sprawl but Avery drives through with a takedown into half guard.

James has one foot on Avery's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.
James lands a right hook to the body.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
James connects with the punch.
A looping hook to the body misses from James. Avery does a little dance to reset his feet.
Avery has a takedown stuffed.
Peter James has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of William Avery.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
James tests Avery's chin there with a solid looking shot.


It looks like William Avery has been cut.
James tries to clinch up but Avery circles away and keeps his distance.
And Avery tries to counter it with a takedown but James pushes his down on his head and steps out.
James misses with a body shot.
Avery jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Avery misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from James.
Avery goes for a double leg but James avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as James continues to drive forward.

James has closed the distance and engaged Avery in a clinch.
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Avery takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.
Avery is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables James to keep the fight standing.

Avery jumps guard and drags James to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
James working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
James tries to stand but Avery is controlling from the bottom.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

James gets to his feet. Avery looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
James slips a jab and a cross from Avery.
James swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.
Avery jabbing away but nothing is landing.
James throws a lazy right hand but Avery sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Avery lands with a thumping leg kick.
James misses with a hook.
James lands with a nice combination. Avery backs away looking to recover.
Avery scores with a sloppy right hand. James should have avoided that one.
James cracks Avery with a good jab.


Avery is rocked!
Avery shoots in but no luck this time.
An attempted straight right counter from James misses the target.
Avery is still on wobbly legs! Can James finish him?
Avery throws a half hearted mid kick.
James looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Avery seems to have recovered his senses.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
A head kick misses from Avery.

James drops Avery with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but Avery looks back up at him and smiles so James waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.

James has closed the distance and engaged Avery in a clinch.
A bit of stalling here from James.
Avery jumps guard but James stands there with Avery around his waist. Avery gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Avery misses with a hook from the clinch.
Kneeeeees! The crowd are calling for knees to the body. James obliges.

James has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Avery regains guard immediately.
Avery keeping full guard, as James tries to pass.
James has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Avery keeping moving, preventing James from controlling successfully.
Avery looking to hit a scissor sweep but James is one step ahead there.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Peter James dominated that round.
The cut man is working on William Avery's cut.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


James throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean.
We've been told by James's head coaches at Bloodsport Gym 16 Elites that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.

Avery shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in James's guard.
Avery scoring with some ground and pound.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Avery trying to control the position from guard on top but James is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
James is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Avery can do to turn this around?

James pushes Avery off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.
James cracks Avery with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.

Nice body kick there by James.
Peter James is winning the standup battle so far.
Avery is breathing heavily.

James drops Avery with a beautiful combination! Avery stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - James is looking for the KO!
James throws an overhand right that drops Avery like a sack of potatoes! James dives in to finish the fight with more strikes and this one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:16 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Peter James!
Peter James was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
