Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Alan Mullins!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Trevor Ho!
The judges for this bout are Micheangelo Fripello, Chris Saunders and Paul Gruel.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Ho bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Ho is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Mullins is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Ho advances to mount.
Mullins working to try and regain half guard.
Ho punching from mount but Mullins doing a good job of avoiding damage.
Mullins is looking to improve his position but Ho isn't that keen on the idea.
Ho content just to control the position here.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Mullins is trying to escape the mount.
Ho controlling his opponent.
Ho trying to control but he's not successful this time.

Mullins is wriggling around trying to escape.
Mullins is working hard here to advance position.

Ho goes for an armbar but Mullins turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Mullins.
Mullins won't allow Ho to sweep him here.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Mullins gets to his feet. Ho looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Ho feints and as Mullins raises his hands in defense, Ho changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Ho won't allow Mullins to sweep him here.
Ho's corner is telling him to maintain position.

Mullins has his feet on Ho's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.

Ho shoots in and bounces Mullins off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Mullins is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Ho is trying to maintain the position but Mullins is very close to passing his half guard.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Ho wants to get back to full guard but Mullins has mounted him!
Mullins prevents Ho from getting the reversal.
Ho really wants to buck Mullins off and get back to his feet.

Mullins has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Ho's face.

Mullins looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.
Ho manages to regain half guard. Good work.
Ho wants to control but Mullins is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Ho looking to force a kimura from the bottom here. He's concentrating on that move too much though and Mullins pushes past his half guard into mount!

Mullins looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.
Mullins lands a couple of good shots and Ho has given up his back, trying to escape the position!

Ho is trying to get back to his feet but Mullins has full control of the position and if anything, Ho has just worked his way into a worse spot.
Ho manages to reverse the position and now he's in Mullins's guard. Nice work there by Ho.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Mullins rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Ho moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Ho changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Mullins looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Ho tries to score with some ground and pound. Mullins controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.
Ho moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now.
The ground and pound from Ho seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.
Mullins is positioning himself to get back to half guard.

Mullins instigates a clinch.
Mullins lands on the inside with an uppercut.

Mullins is fighting off a takedown attempt but Ho is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Mullins to the mat. Mullins regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
Mullins bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Ho's guard.

Ho looking to hit a scissor sweep but Mullins is one step ahead there.
Ho is breathing heavily.

Ho is working an open guard so Mullins takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

and Mullins counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.

Mullins has Ho up against the cage in a clinch.
Mullins connects with a nasty looking knee right to Ho's face.

Ho jumps into guard, dragging Mullins to the mat.

Mullins gets to his feet - Ho follows without any prompting.
Mullins dives in for a single leg takedown but Ho sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.

Mullins tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Ho swivels and escapes.
Ho throws a head kick that misses.

Ho closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Ho closes the distance and pushes Mullins back into the cage.

Ho turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!

Mullins sneaks out the side door and pushes Ho away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape.

Mullins shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Ho manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Ho uses the cage to get back to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


Mullins is looking to clinch but Ho is avoiding it.
Ho tries a head kick but it misses.

Ho decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Mullins makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!

Ho throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Mullins was covering up waiting for the punch and Ho finishes the takedown easily into guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Ho takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Ho wanted to stand there but Mullins had control of the position.

We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Mullins has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Ho.
Mullins throws a series of strikes that have Ho backpedaling.
Ho misses with a combination
and Mullins counters with a series of strikes. Ho will be more careful next time no doubt.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Mullins is defended easily by Ho.
And Ho tries to counter it with a takedown but Mullins pushes his down on his head and steps out.

Ho pushes Mullins up against the cage in a clinch.

Ho has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Mullins clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!

Mullins manages to stand up with Ho still on his back. Eventually Ho drops to his feet and we're back in the standing position.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Ho is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Mullins.

Mullins fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Ho, pushing him back against the cage.
Mullins pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the cage.

Ho manages to break the clinch.

Mullins shoots in and gets a takedown into Ho's guard.

Mullins throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Ho.

Ho shoots in and bounces Mullins off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Ho is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Mullins is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Ho can do to turn this around?

Mullins is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Trevor Ho has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
