PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Vasili Komaroff (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jurgen Murgen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Komaroff might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Here's To Us. Jurgen Murgen told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Vasili Komaroff!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 7 - 1, fighting out of Helsinki, Jurgen Murgen!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Timothy Bukovac and Jack Bonds.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Komaroff scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.
Murgen swings wildly with a couple of big hooks

and Komaroff counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Murgen!
A lull in the action here.
Komaroff continues to stall.
Komaroff has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Murgen is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Komaroff asserts his dominance and retains side control.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Murgen is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Komaroff has just dragged him back down to the mat.
Komaroff remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

Komaroff is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Murgen knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Murgen wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Komaroff lands a nice looking body shot.
Murgen needs to keep his hands up - Komaroff had a free shot at his head there.

Komaroff closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Murgen pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Komaroff throws a right hand that Murgen ducks under and follows up with a left that Murgen also avoids with ease.
Murgen keeps the fight on the outside.
It seemed like Murgen was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
Murgen has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Murgen there as he acknowledges the shot.
Murgen scores with a decent looking hook.
Murgen takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
A low kick from Murgen misses
and Komaroff counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.

Murgen is rocked!
Komaroff cracks Murgen with a left hook right on the temple and Murgen goes down! He's out! Referee! Stop the fight! Komaroff lands a few more punches before the dopey ref steps in - hopefully Murgen is OK!
