PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Derek Bacon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Habakuk Tibatong (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Bacon might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Just Like You Imagined by Nine Inch Nails. The crowd seem to be enjoying Tibatong's choice of entrance music: In Flames - Cloud Connected. I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Derek Bacon!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Habakuk Tibatong!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Chris Downing and Gwen Towbar.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Tibatong throws a series of punches but Bacon avoids them all with ease.
Tibatong tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Bacon paws at him with a jab and circles away.
A head kick misses from Tibatong.
Bacon slips a jab and a cross from Tibatong.
Tibatong tries to close the distance and clinch but Bacon swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Tibatong shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Bacon but Bacon pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Tibatong fails to land the takedown.
Tibatong misses with a two punch combination.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Tibatong gets caught flat footed, as Bacon shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Bacon passes Tibatong's right leg, so he's now in half guard.

Bacon is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Tibatong moves into full guard.
Bacon controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Bacon wants to pass the guard but Tibatong is keeping the position.
Bacon sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Tibatong's guard.
Bacon moves nicely into side control.

Bacon thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Tibatong is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.

Tibatong is looking to improve his position.
Bacon moves into full mount! Tibatong won't be happy about that!

Bacon working for a guillotine from mount but Tibatong is in no mood to give up.
Bacon is breathing heavily.

Bacon is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Tibatong has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Tibatong!

Bacon looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Bacon is trying to control the position but Tibatong postures up.
Tibatong trying to control but Bacon is working from the bottom.

Bacon looking for a guillotine here but Tibatong defends easily.
Tibatong stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Bacon swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Tibatong is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Bacon is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Tibatong is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Tibatong trying to control but Bacon is working from the bottom.
Tibatong must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Bacon had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Tibatong is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Bacon Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Tibatong's back instead.

Bacon has the hooks in and he's looking for a rear naked choke here. Tibatong is defending well but eventually Bacon manages to get an arm under the chin and he's locked on the RNC! Tibatong has no choice but to tap now! He does! This one is all over!
