Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Charlie Johns!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Kapteeni Valkonen!
The judges for this bout are Albert Achterberg, Aafke Stam and Nard Betker.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Johns scores with a nice head shot.
It looks like Kapteeni Valkonen has been cut.
Valkonen lands with an uppercut that bounces Johns off the cage and back into range.
Valkonen slips under a jab from Johns.
Johns goes for a double leg but Valkonen avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Valkonen continues to drive forward.
Johns shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Valkonen sprawls well. Valkonen wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Johns gets slowly back to his feet.
Johns moves out of range of the strikes.
Horrible takedown attempt by Johns or perhaps it was just good defense by Valkonen, which made it look bad.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Charlie Johns. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Johns tries to clinch up.

Johns misses the jab.
Johns tries to score a power double leg takedown but Valkonen sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Johns somewhat.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Johns shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Valkonen's guard.
Valkonen is rocked!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Johns accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Valkonen is still in real trouble! Can Johns finish him?
Johns stands up over Valkonen, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Valkonen is trying to keep Johns in close.
Johns postures up from his opponent's guard, before exploding into some vicious ground and pound! Valkonen covers up, he's hurt! Johns keeps throwing the strikes, glancing at the referee... Will he stop it?? One more big shot from Johns and the ref steps in to end the fight! Johns can't hide his delight as he celebrates with his corner.
