Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the light heavyweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 13 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Divock Origi!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 19 - 4 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Paul Stampfer!
The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Chris Downing and Tiny Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Origi lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
Stampfer closes the distance and lands a one-two.
Stampfer closes the distance and clinches up with Origi, looking for a takedown. Stampfer pushes Origi against the cage but Origi circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Origi throws a front kick that sends Stampfer stumbling back into the cage.
Stampfer pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Stampfer throws a right and a left that both miss.
Stampfer lands a really nice looking cross but Origi seems unphased.
Origi fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.
Origi chopping away at his opponent's legs.
Stampfer checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time.
Stampfer tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Stampfer has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
Stampfer throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
A chopping leg kick lands by Origi.
Stampfer ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Stampfer shoots and misses
and Origi counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Stampfer avoids a kick to the body.
Stampfer misses with a right hand
and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.
Origi throws an overhand right that lands on Stampfer's shoulder, as Stampfer tries to avoid the shot.
Origi scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.
Stampfer misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Origi.
Divock Origi is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Stampfer lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
Origi scores with a sloppy right hand. Stampfer should have avoided that one.
Origi lands a nice looking body shot.
Nice takedown defense from Origi. No joy for Stampfer on that attempt.
Divock Origi has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Paul Stampfer.
Stampfer thuds a left hand into Origi's body.

Origi lands a high kick to the side of Stampfer's head that stuns him and send him tumbling down to the canvas! Origi dives into guard, looking to finish.


Stampfer is rocked!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Origi sitting in guard, not really doing much.
Stampfer is still in real trouble! Can Origi finish him?
Origi throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.

Origi is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Origi gets to his feet and stands over Stampfer, holding his ankles. He dives in with a big left hand that connects! Stampfer felt that one! Origi unloads more punches and elbows and this one is over! The ref has dived in to save Stampfer from any more punishment!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:49 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Divock Origi!
Divock Origi retains his light heavyweight title!
Divock Origi decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
