PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jo Smo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Andy Askren (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Askren has a pretty significant injury - he really shouldn't be fighting right now but he's a warrior and he's here none the less! Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Jo Smo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 7 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Andy Askren!
The judges for this bout are Sandra Marshall, Peter Branson and Dirk Anderson.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Askren tries to clinch but Smo moves out of range.
Askren looks winded!
Smo scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.

Smo drops Askren with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but Askren looks back up at him and smiles so Smo waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.

That has opened up Andy Askren's cut even more.
Smo lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Askren circles away quickly and effectively.
Askren is loading up here, looking for a big counter of his own.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
A big right followed by a crushing left from Smo knocks Askren out cold! Ouch - that one's going to be featured in highlight reels for years to come!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:20 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Jo Smo!
After the fight, Jo Smo was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
