Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Paul Kelly (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Edward Wates (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kelly's entrance music is London Calling. A fine choice. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Paul Kelly!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 7 - 0, fighting out of London, Edward Wates!
The judges for this bout are Paul Tew, Daniel Bishop and James Atkins.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kelly misses with a double jab
and Wates counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.

Wates drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

Kelly pushes Wates off and gets back to his feet.
Kelly misses with a few strikes there.
Danga de danga de dang - Kelly scores with a four punch combination!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Kelly ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Wates showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Kelly.
Good leg kick by Wates there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Kelly definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.

Wates looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Kelly!

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Wates lands with a right to the head.
Wates stays in close to his opponent and throws a right hand to the body.
Wates prevents the takedown attempt.
Kelly wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

That was a close round but I would say that Paul Kelly will probably get the nod.

Kelly is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Wates can do to turn this around?

Kelly throws a solid leg kick but Wates takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Kelly.

and Kelly counters with a three punch combo that has Wates backing up. Wates nods at Kelly to acknowledge the strikes.

Kelly does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.

Wates tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Kelly just stands there and leans against the cage.
Kelly is trying to push Wates away but Wates has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.

Wates changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Kelly tries to avoid it but Wates manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Kelly to the ground. Kelly escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Kelly, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
