Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Tonychester Westchester!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Dao Sonnen!
The judges for this bout are Dean Styles, Jorge Garcia and Franklyn Lucas.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sonnen takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
Westchester thows a left - swing and a miss!
Tonychester Westchester seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Sonnen connects with a crisp jab.
Westchester throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
It seemed like Sonnen was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
Westchester looks to score with a jab to the body but Sonnen is just out of range.
Sonnen lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
A momentary lapse in concentration from Westchester enables Sonnen to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Westchester manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Sonnen controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Sonnen throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Sonnen slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Westchester avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Sonnen is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Westchester utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Westchester knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Sonnen on the ground.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Sonnen sitting in guard, not really doing much.
Westchester on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Westchester tries to get out of the position.
Sonnen throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Sonnen controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Sonnen drops back looking for a leg! Westchester is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Westchester manages to kick Sonnen off! Sonnen jumps back into Westchester's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Sonnen sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Westchester's guard.
Westchester is in trouble now - Sonnen has advanced to mount!
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Sonnen throwing strikes here but Westchester is writhing around nicely and avoiding any serious damage.
Westchester is breathing heavily.
Sonnen controlling his opponent.
Sonnen sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!

Sonnen looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Sonnen working from mount. He moves in close and looks like he might be going for an arm triangle... He's hopped off to the side and he's transitioned into an Anaconda choke. Westchester turning a nasty shade of purple. He's refusing to tap but he's gone! He's out! The ref rips Sonnen off and cradles Westchester's limp body as Sonnen celebrates with his corner.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:50 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Anaconda Choke). Dao Sonnen!
