Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jose Aldo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Antonio Souza!
The judges for this bout are Matheus Silva, Thiago Cunha and Luis Engracia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Souza lunges at Aldo with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Aldo's hand.
Aldo fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Souza avoids it really well and circles away.
Aldo shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Souza counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Aldo shoots in for a takedown but Souza shows good takedown defense.

Souza works over Aldo's head and body with a nice combination.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Souza has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Aldo can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Souza escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Aldo gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Souza has his foot on Aldo's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Aldo works his way back into a safe position though.

Souza is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Aldo is aware though and is defending well.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Souza drops back, looking for a kneebar! Aldo looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Aldo looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Aldo!

Souza is pushing Aldo's head away, looking to escape. Aldo manages to hold on to the position though.

Aldo decides to stand back up. Aldo steps back and let's Souza get back to his feet.

Aldo clinches up against the cage.

Aldo is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Souza can't fight it off and eventually Aldo manages to take the fight to the floor. Souza looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.
