Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 78 - 34 - 7, fighting out of Helsinki, James Bomb!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 33 - 16 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Declan Sweeney!
The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Dillan Fox and Elvis Blanc.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sweeney connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Bomb's hands.
Bomb tries to close the distance and clinch up but Sweeney swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Bomb throws a push kick but Sweeney slaps the foot to one side.
Sweeney keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!

Bomb closes the distance and clinches.
Bomb blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
A short uppercut from Bomb.
Bomb lands with a short head shot on the inside.
Sweeney takes a knee right on the jaw!


It looks like Declan Sweeney has been cut.

I was talking to Bomb's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.
Bomb tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Sweeney's elbow.
Sweeney is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Bomb is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

so Sweeney counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.

Sweeney throws an elbow that misses. Bomb uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Sweeney's guard. Nice move by Bomb!

Bomb won't allow Sweeney to sweep him here.
Sweeney is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Sweeney is trying to control. Bomb wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Bomb preventing any damage for now, controlling his opponent's head.
Bomb is looking to control Sweeney's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Bomb avoid being mounted?

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Bomb manages to get to full guard.
Sweeney is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Sweeney lands a couple of elbows.
Sweeney loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Sweeney is fighting to break Bomb's control of his arms but Bomb is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

Sweeney drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Sweeney jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Sweeney has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Sweeney jabs Bomb right on the nose. Bomb blinks but takes it well.

Oh Bomb is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

Sweeney gets a big slam - oh, Bomb is out! Bomb is out! That's a nasty KO!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:27 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Slam). Declan Sweeney!
During a confident post fight interview, Declan Sweeney thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
