Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Renaldo Mclean (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Damian Bires (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Damian Bires will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Renaldo Mclean!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Damian Bires!
The judges for this bout are Sam Margolis, Steven Brown and Paul Tew.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Bires fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Mclean, pushing him back against the cage.
Bires is trying to break the clinch but Mclean has him pressed against the cage.

Bires gets a trip takedown into half guard.
Mclean throws a strike from the bottom that misses.
Still in half guard, Bires seems content to control.
Mclean is trying to stand up here but Bires is controlling him well.
Bires wants to stand up but Mclean is controlling the position.
Bires controlling the action here.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Mclean wants to improve his position but Bires is controlling well.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

Bires moves in looking to clinch but Mclean pushes him off.

Bires has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Mclean is trying to keep an underhook but Bires manages to get the takedown into half guard.

Bires is looking to work some ground and pound but Mclean has wrist control.
Bires throws an elbow that misses. Mclean uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Bires's guard. Nice move by Mclean!

Mclean wants to stand up but Bires has a hold of him and won't allow it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Bires is doing well to control the position and prevent Mclean from advancing to side control.
Mclean thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Bires is looking for a sweep. Mclean is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Mclean landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
Bires is looking to improve his position.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Bires wants to control but Mclean is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Bires pushes Mclean off looking to stand but Mclean dives back in and keeps control.

Mclean will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Mclean wanted to stand there but Bires had control of the position.

Bires utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Bires closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Mclean quickly recovers to half guard.
Bires is pressing down on Mclean's thigh, looking to free his foot. Mclean is holding on for now.
Mclean is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Bires's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Bires's back!
Damian Bires has got the better of the ground game so far.

Mclean is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Bires defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined.

Mclean throwing strikes from the back - he gets a warning from the referee for striking the back of the head but all these shots are hurting Bires!
Bires tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell!

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Mclean cracks Bires with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Bires wants to hold on but Mclean pushes him away.
Mclean lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
Bires is just holding on here. Mclean manages to take his back.

Bires is staying cool under pressure, defending well against the rear naked choke attempt from his opponent.

Bires wants to control his opponent's hands but Mclean gets his hands free.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Bires wants to escape the position.

Mclean is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Bires knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Bires for a finish.
Bires staying busy and making it hard for Mclean to control.
Mclean is trying to stick to Bires's back but Bires is turning into Mclean. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Mclean's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Bires.
Mclean is trying to control the position but Bires postures up.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Mclean is working an open guard so Bires takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Mclean enables Bires to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Mclean manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. And we move into the final round!

Mclean looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Bires is trying to maintain the position but Mclean is very close to passing his half guard.
Bires wants to get back to full guard but Mclean has mounted him!
Mclean lands a nice shot to the head.

Mclean stands up from the dominant position. He obviously fancies his chances standing.
Bires tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target.

Mclean tries to sprawl but Bires drives through with a takedown into half guard.

Bires takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Bires is working for a submission of some sort.
Bires is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Mclean!

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Bires goes for an armbar but Mclean turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Mclean.
Bires is wriggling around but Mclean manages to pass to half guard.
Bires wants to get back to full guard but Mclean has mounted him!
Bires is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Mclean controlling the pace for now.
Bires tries to reverse the position but Mclean maintains control.

Mclean breaks from Bires's wrist control and lands an elbow.

Mclean is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Bires is surviving well by controlling Mclean's body position as best he can.

Mclean is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Bires can do to turn this around?
