PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Buck Rogers (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Liam Ledbetter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Buck Rogers!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Liam Ledbetter!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Fujiwara, Shirou Masuda and Taro Takaoka.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ledbetter shoots in for a takedown but Rogers shows good takedown defense.
Ledbetter looks for a takedown but Rogers sprawls well.
Ledbetter is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Liam Ledbetter seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Rogers moves into range and clinches up with Ledbetter.
Ledbetter unloads a knee to the mid-section.
Both guys are working to get underhooks.
Rogers pressing his opponent against the cage.
Ledbetter lands an elbow just above Rogers 's eye.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Rogers ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Rogers no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Rogers is on top in guard.

Ledbetter is looking to stand up but Rogers isn't so interested in that idea.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Ledbetter can't keep his opponent in guard - Rogers advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Well, if Rogers is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Rogers seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Ledbetter for as long as he can get away with.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Rogers lands a nice short elbow.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Rogers stands up out of the half guard.
Ledbetter fails to land the takedown.
Buck Rogers has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Liam Ledbetter.
A left and a right from Ledbetter both land. Nice combination.
Rogers shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Ledbetter sprawls well. Ledbetter wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Rogers gets slowly back to his feet.
Ledbetter fails with an attempt to clinch.
Ledbetter tries to clinch up
and Rogers counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Ledbetter moves to clinch but Rogers breaks away

so Rogers counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Ledbetter looks winded!

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Rogers slips nicely into half guard.
Rogers frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Rogers raining down shots from the mount!
Rogers tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Ledbetter is bucking up trying to escape but Rogers cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
Rogers lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Rogers controlling the pace for now.
Ledbetter really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Rogers. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Rogers's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Rogers continues to stall.

Rogers working from mount. He moves in close and looks like he might be going for an arm triangle... He's hopped off to the side and he's transitioned into an Anaconda choke. Ledbetter turning a nasty shade of purple. He's refusing to tap but he's gone! He's out! The ref rips Rogers off and cradles Ledbetter's limp body as Rogers celebrates with his corner.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:30 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Anaconda Choke). Buck Rogers!
